Wedding Dress Inspiration: Screen Actors Guild Awards 2011

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on January 31st, 2011

Yesterday, 30th January, saw the Hollywood A-listers celebrate themselves in The Screen Actors Guild Awards, and once more the red carpet was a good place to look if you’re after inspiration for your wedding dress.

The Glee girls were out in force and added glamour to the event which proved that The King’s Speech might be the big winner at this year’s Oscars.

We were also thrilled to see a couple of the girls wearing 1920’s style dresses, which we’re thinking will be a trend to come with the arrival of Boardwalk Empire to UK screens. Which dress design was your favourite?

Bruce Oldfield tipped as royal dress designer

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on January 18th, 2011

According to The Telegraph, Catherine Middleton may choose Princess Diana’s favourite designer, Bruce Oldfield, to design her wedding dress. This comes after the mother of the royal bride, Carole, and Catherine’s sister, Pippa were spotted meeting Oldfield at his Knightsbridge boutique in London.

There has been much speculation surrounding who will be bestowed the honour of designing the dress for the wedding of the year. Many have thought that Catherine Middleton might opt for a young, up and coming British designer. However, by the looks of it, it seems like Catherine might be choosing a more traditional route and choose an Oldfield design. The 60-year-old has dressed British and international royalty for more than 35 years.

Celebrity engagements over the festive season

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on January 6th, 2011

Christmas and New Year is a popular time to get engaged, and celebrities are no exception! During the festive season, when we were busy drinking  mulled wine and eating mince pies, announcements of engagements flooded in from several starlets. Following a year of many celebrity divorces, we are thrilled that so many lucky ladies (and men!) will be tying the knot in 2011.

Joining Kate and Wills in nuptial bliss are Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman, Leann Rimes, Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding, Ginnifer Goodwin, David Tennant, and Hugh Hefner. And not to forget, Lily Allen who is to marry “the love of [her] life” Sam Cooper. We’re especially delighted to hear Lily’s news after her very trialling year.

This also means that we get to ‘oooh’ and ‘aaah’ over engagement rings (Reese’s is said to be worth a whopping $250k!), wedding dresses and celebrity wedding bashes in the months ahead. Not to forget the forthcoming royal wedding!

Congratulations to all!

Focus on jewellery: Tiaras

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on December 3rd, 2010

With the happy news that William has finally asked Miss Catherine to marry him, and Britain going wedding crazy, we thought it fitting that this month’s focus should be on tiaras. We can’t think of anything, apart from a horse drawn carriage perhaps, that says Princess Bride more. With a little help from, we’ve search through a wide range of accessories to find the five head pieces we thought you might like.
