Mood board: Winter wedding wonderland

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on December 8th, 2011

I recently wrote about the top trends for winter brides, so I thought it would be fun to put together a winter wedding wonderland mood board for inspiration to anyone who is tying the knot this magical season.

To be a real Snow Queen bride, think frosty shades of icy blue and perhaps a dash of red for a warmer touch, lots of lace, pearls and delicate jewels, and even some feathers and faux fur.

What are your winter wedding essentials?

1: Maggie Sottero, Swarovski embellished ball gown wedding dress, Nikkita

2: Lapin & Me Rabbit Snow globe, £10

3: Jenny Packham, wedding dress

4: Gisela Graham twig heart wreath (£7.95) and frosted acorn (3.95) at Selfridges

5: Victorian hanging glass tea light holder by Belle & Thistle via Notonthehighstreet.com, £4.50

6: Jane Taylor Millinery Beaded tear with birdcage veil, £350

7: Beaded cake necklace by Cat’s Whiskers Cake Design via Notonthehighstreet.com, £45

8: Snowflake wedding invite by Trendy Treasure via Etsy.com, USD$2.50

9: Christian Louboutin Fifi glitter heels, USD$625

Maggie Sottero’s city inspired wedding dresses

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on December 8th, 2011

Naming a bridal gown design could be down to the inspiration source or simply because it looks like a ‘Mirabel’.

The Maggie Sottero 2012 bridal collection definitely draws inspiration from cities and destinations from around the world with places like Havana, Adelaide, Paris and the more London centric Camden making an appearance – London is featured as well.

Take a look and travel the world… wedding dress style!

Exclusive Harriet Wilde bridal shoe collection launches at Harrods

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on December 5th, 2011

Wedding shoe extraordinaire Harriet Wilde has launched a floral inspired Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Harrods’ prestigious shoe boudoir. This season Harriet Wilde has fallen in love with delicate sprig cherry blossom – my favourite! – and pretty summer roses that create soft and romantic details.

The shapes include the every stylish, high heeled peep toe platforms, Betty Draper fifties courts, the more classic round toe courts (with or without platforms so you’re spoiled for choice).

Made from high quality ivory silk, this season’s exclusives are Sakura (the Japanese word for cherry blossoms) with ornate silver leaves and delicate pink cherry blossoms cascading down the heel. And if you are a bridal client of Harrods, you can get gorgeous hand painted flowers on any of the designs!

If you’re after a bit more blingtastic pair, then the Swarovskli crystal embellished  Bridgette and Polly will be your faves.

Excuse me while I head to Harrods…

Bridal SS12: Feminine and playful from katyakatya shehurina

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on December 2nd, 2011

Latvian born fashion designer Katya Shehurina, the woman behind katyakatya shehurina, is definitely one to watch in the time to come – now also as a bridal designer. Her haute couture collections are feminine and playful, quite extravagant but seemingly also eminently wearable. She combines floaty layers and clever draping with opulent details such as lace, oversized flowers, jewels and tassels – providing a distinctly feminine with a dramatic edge. Love it!

Katyakatya shehurina will be exhibiting at the White Gallery London in May 2012.

Below is a selection of the more wedding friendly designs from the katyakatya shehurina spring summer 2012 collection.

Bridal wonderland: German brand kisui 2012 collection draws inspiration from fantasy realm

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 30th, 2011

kisui - Abiona

Absolutely adoring the 2012 bridal collection by German brand kisui, whose A-line floor length wedding dresses are a vision of beauty. Made from lavish fabrics such as silk organza, chiffon and tulle, the inspiration for next year’s collection comes from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

The collection shows signs of romanticism and extravagance, mixed with minimalism and austerity. The violet and claret-red details on some of the gowns perfectly contrast the more plain classic silhouettes.

Personal favourites? Deva, Lillymy and Pearl.

Kisui will be showing its designs to the UK market at the White Gallery London fair in May 2012.

5 eco wedding dresses via Etsy

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 24th, 2011

With the world being in a dire state – disappearing polar ice and economic meltdown looming – it is no wonder that many people are wondering how they can make their lives, and weddings, greener. While I love the extravagant high fashion bridal designs I often write about here, I’ve also been increasingly wondering what is available out there for eco-chic brides-to-be.

I headed over to the Etsy marketplace to see what eco wedding dresses were to be found. And I didn’t end up disappointed; below are five of the gorgeous dresses made by independent designers, each single one a sure thing to make you a beautiful green bride.
