If we were getting married this year, we’d want to be a Max Mara bride. With the 2013 Bridal Collection Project, the Italian label redefines the concept of the wedding dress to make it contemporary and prêt-à-porter, responding to the current need to speed up the preparations. The idea, at first developed with a few special items in selected boutiques, is today much broader: over 30 models from essential dresses to more elaborate – distributed worldwide.
From their website: “The 2013 Collection, from romantic allure and elegant minimalism, is dedicated to the modern and dynamic woman, who has no desire to lose hours for fittings in an atelier. Tones offer a range of whites, from milk-white to ivory, with touches of transparent pastels in a make-up palette. Alongside the dresses, Max Mara offers an entire range of accessories, from shoes to veils, gloves and bijoux flowers.”

We love this floral wedding dress by Italian designer Cotin Sposa. So romantic. This of course got us looking at the rest of the 2013 bridal collection, and there are some good silhouettes to be found. Combine these with the finest laces, handmade embroideries, Swarovski crystals and top notch fabrics, this made in Italy wedding dress doesn’t disappoint. The only gown we’re not sure of is the one with a mint green waistband and hair accessory. Unfortunately Cotin Sposa doesn’t have any retailers in the UK, but check out their website for contact details.

Stop everything you’re doing and take a look at the latest collection from Australian bridal designer Johanna Johnson. Called ‘Still is the night, not so my heart’ is a spectacular luxury bridal collection inspired by the elaborate chorus girls from the Ziegfeld Follies whose lavish costumes were the talk of the 1920′s New York. A gorgeous display, you’ll find vintage details and Art Deco influences throughout the collection which has an added softness to its silhouettes. There is a strong focus on accessories, in particular body adornments featuring draped Swarovski chains, elevating some of the cleaner silhouettes to a more detailed level of luxury.

The Victorio & Lucchino bride certainly goes her own ways – just look at those elaborate headpieces.
