Get Pippa Middleton’s Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress at Net-a-porter

By Elisabeth on November 22nd, 2011

The Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress that Kate Middleton wore at her royal wedding to Prince Williams has been copied numerous times since the April wedding. And now fans of the gown Pippa Middleton wore as she stepped into the spotlight as chief bridesmaid at the royal shindig seven months ago.

The beautifully cut, elegant and timeless Alexander McQueen silk-crepe gown is an almost identical copy of Pippa’s dress and is now being sold on net-a-porter.com for £1,995.

Despite being designed as a bridesmaid gown, I’m sure many British brides will be rushing to secure this particular gown as it offers a simple silhouette compared to more elaborate designs. And at just shy of £2k it is comes at a fraction of the price! Pippa’s gown is said to have cost around £20,000, but did include bespoke lace panels around the sleeves and neck as well as silk button detailing on the back. Hey, it was a royal wedding after all!

Can’t promise you’ll get a derrière like Pippa by wearing the Sarah Burton design, but it sure is a pretty choice for your wedding day.

Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012 bridal collection

By Elisabeth on November 16th, 2011

While other bridal design superstar Vera Wang has opted for a series of nude and black wedding dresses for her autumn 2012 collection, celebrity favourite Monique Lhuillier has kept to a more traditional white. I personally loved the Gothic feel of Vera’s range, but Monique’s – even if less dark and twisted –  Fall 2012 bridal collection is stunning nonetheless with an abundance of lace, tulle and oodles of draping chiffons. Everything you need to feel like a Princess Bride.

The best of the lot? Bouquet with its high split, Lili for its cuteness and Monroe for its Old Hollywood glamour.

We love it when new bridal collections are revealed, so of course we were delighted when these images of Sarah Houston’s spring 2012 designs. Below are some of the wedding dresses available for next year’s spring brides that are looking for timeless romanticism and elegance. We particularly like Sabrina for utter 1940s glamour.

Marchesa is one of our favourite dress designers, and the Autumn 2012 Bridal Collection doesn’t disappoint. With an ethereal fantasy feel, the latest range by Georgina Chapman offers draped tulle, voluminous skirts, delicate lace and a couple of short dresses for a less formal wedding ceremony. Personally I love the short dress with a feathery skirt.

Badgley Mischka was one of our favourites at New York Bridal Week. Innovative high fashion was on the menu as models cascaded down the catwalk in avant-garde wedding dresses and dramatic veils.
