From Belle to Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Ariel these are the dresses for you if you love all things Disney or just want to be a Princess for the day.

“Disney’s fairy tale romances, first told on the silver screen, unfold in signature silhouettes from leading bridal designer Alfred Angelo. The debut collection reflects the style and sensibility of Disney’s iconic princesses –fit for today’s sophisticated bride.”

Barbie bridal 2011 wedding dress collection

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on October 11th, 2011

Dressing up as Barbie is usually a thing for little girls with an obsession for pink, but it appears brides can also do it if they so wish. Trust the Japanese to come up with this. Home to Hello Kitty, they do love they cutesy cosplay outfits so it comes as no surprise that there is a Barbie Bridal collection. Actually the 2011 collection is the SIXTH line!

With lots of fluffy tulle, Jordanesque pinkness and big skirts – Big Fat Gypsy Wedding style. We also spot a ‘Ken Groom’ in the background so you can get the whole Barbie experience.

The line is available from Kuruadia in Japan.

Futuristic Japanese: Miquel Suay 2012 wedding dress collection

Having visited Tokyo a couple of years ago, I was mesmerised by the sartorial style of the Tokyoites: A bit cutesy, lots of cosplay and a hint of ultramodern. Looking at the names of Spanish designer Miquel Suay’s bridal gown collection it appears that he’s been inspired by the land of the rising sun, something which these images of the collection show. I love how he’s teamed the short, avant garde wedding dresses with bright red tights and lips, adding some much needed colour to what can normally be quite bland with its crisp white.

Yolan Cris Lumiere 2012 wedding dress collection

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on October 6th, 2011

Promise I’ll stop going on.. and on and on… about Yolan Cris’ bridal collections for 2012 – mostly because Lumiere is the last one! But they were all so different and lovely to not mention. When you get past the model’s somewhat annoying facial expression and look at the wedding dresses you’ll see why.

“At the beginning of the last century, the brothers Lumière created the first cinematograph. With this innovative and original idea they have become pioneers in what is known today as the Seventh art form.

The mute cinema, the jazz music of the 20s, the Bohemian way of life and vintage, inspiration by the classics, the preference for the new, originality and innovation fill up this collection with extraordinary creations based on mixtures of patchworks with crochet, macramé, applications of wood, nets, laces and so on.”

Grecian and Swinging 20s with Yolan Cris’ The Three Graces wedding dress collection

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on October 4th, 2011

I can’t help but to think of America’s 1920′s Flapper girls when looking at Yolan Cris’ Le Tre Grazie – The Three Graces. With names like Charleston and Mississippi as well as other well-known American cities I think I’d be excused. But it is the elegant, luxurious and somewhat ethereal look with straight and tight cuts that really makes me think of Art Deco and the Swinging 20s.

But for Le Tre Grazie, the third of four 2012 wedding dress collections, Yolan Cris has been inspired by the three Graces of Greek and Roman mythology: the goddesses of joy, charm and beauty. Draped in gorgeous lines reminiscent of Grecian and Roman dresses any bride would look like she’s stepped out of a Rubens painting. With a sensual designs and delicate fabrics, embellished with feathers and guipure and jewels you will feel like a goddess on your wedding day.

“The Aztecs predicted that in 2012 the world as we know it will come to an end and give way to beginning of a new age, the new Sun. Like the Sun, this ethnic and tribal goddess rises from the stones, corals, turquoises and gold above the blue sky and manifests her unique power and personal sheen with tulles, skins, feathers and colourful silks. The collection with clear hippie attitude joins the mystical spirit with modernism, the philosophies of east with those of west.”

Aren’t these pictures gorgeous? Yolan Cris’ Bohemian Luxury bridal collection is inspired by the Bohemian lifestyle of the 70’s in New York – although Cris appears to have found inspiration from across America judging by the names: this is part rock ‘n’ roll, part art, part hippy.

Defined by pure seduction with an exquisite combination of silks, guipures, tulle, crochet, and lace patchwork this blends the hippy lifestyle with Bohemian luxury.

Pronovias Fashion wedding dress collection 2012

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on September 22nd, 2011

Taking the names of famous cities and perhaps ladies, the 2012 Pronovias Barcelona Fashion collection is a mesmerising set of wedding gowns. Using soft, refined fabrics like Sofia gauze and pleated Paris organza the range offers the very best in wedding design. While some draw inspiration from Greek Goddesses there is also a modern feel to the gowns. My favourite – that I can also see on the red carpet – is the Famosa; delicate off the shoulder drapes and pure Old Hollywood glamour.
