Now this one isn’t out for ages, but it’s a very quiet time for wedding books at the moment, so at least you could pre-order it…
Written by Michael Arnot, the founder of Groove.com, “the only wedding website dedicated to men”, Don’t Screw Up Your Bride’s Wedding is a “comprehensive, clearly stated, and convenient guide for grooms”. From the proposal to “‘I do’ and beyond”, the book promises to usher the groom through each stage of planning and preparation.

There’s plenty of bridal umbrellas out there, with savvy folk realising that hoping for a rain-free wedding day simply isn’t enough anymore. If you’re a groom who wants to stay stylish and not sodden (who wouldn’t?) then you don’t have to settle for cowering under your bride’s gorgeous but girly waterproof parasol.
This Fred Perry designer brolly is a great choice for grooms. In a classic black, it avoids looking funereal with the addition of a stylish tartan inner. Practical and very cool, it’ll no doubt make its way into regular use too. It costs a pretty reasonable £39 from End Clothing online.

It’s not often that you get a typical bloke to take the step to grooming products. Even if, in the case of my beau, he takes care of his appearance otherwise, sometimes lotions and potions can still seem girly. Thankfully, natural grooming company Bulldog have got the men’s market all sewn up, with distinctly unfeminine products for even the most masculine of grooms.
They’re launching new gift sets at both Sainsbury’s and Debenhams, so you can treat your groom to a few essentials to take care of his skin and leave him looking his dashing best on the big day. For those with a green ethos, you’ll be glad to know their brand is committed to naturally sourced ingredients and including essential oils for nature’s best care. Find out more about their products at the website.

If you’re a groom who’s more into expressing your personality and style than traditional black, your accessories are a great way to subtly inject some flair into a wedding ensemble. These burgundy patent Mike shoes from Faith are a great pair for just such a thing.
Whether you’re co-ordinating with the wedding colour scheme, or just looking for something a little cheeky and edgy, I think this pair tread the fine line between formal and fashionable perfectly. They’re currently available from Debenhams for a very affordable £60.

Is your best man the forgetful type? You could help him out with this Best Man Survival Kit (£5) which is packed with emergency cufflinks, ‘Don’t Panic’ wedding rings in case he loses the real ones (and if he is the type who might, keep hold of them yourself), mints, tissues, an energy slab which is presumably why he’ll need the next item, yes, a condom. That’ll certainly help him out with his speech…

Grooms often feel the need to go down the traditional black root with their wedding attire, but if you’re bucking some of the traditions, why not step out of the old colour palette with this great looking grey suit from Burton.
In a mohair-look material, this three-piece suit looks a million bucks, but costs considerably less thanks to its location in a much loved high street retailer. The suit costs £165 for all three pieces, but they’re mix and match allowing you to choose the best fit to leave you looking tailored to perfection.

So I was just reading Lorraine Kelly’s autobiography and she mentioned that, on honeymoon in Disneyland, she’d wanted to buy Minnie Mouse ears with wedding veil. Of course, I had to put the book down immediately (it wasn’t difficult; it’s not so exciting) and come and check it out.
There are Minnie ears with veil on ebay, but I was more taken with this Mickey groom’s hat. I know it’s utterly ridiculous, but it’s also kind of cool, no? Buy it at Laughing Place Store for $28.25.

For high society style, a man can’t go wrong with some stylish patent shoes. Think the glory days of Hollywood and you’re on to a winner in the dapper stakes. However, if black patent just isn’t your thing, then these Hi Shine lace ups from Next could be the perfect alternative.
With bags of formal style, they’re a great choice for a groom with a nose for style. Classic, yet modern, I love this pair, and I’m sure there’s many a bride out there who’d be equally impressed by such a well turned out suitor. Get yours from Next online or in the shops for a very reasonable £75.

As an on the day gift to your groom or as a pressy for your dad or best man, I think there will be an awful lot of men happy with this very blokey sounding gift pack from organic chocolatiers Green & Black’s. With eight individual bars of choc and six ales from St Peters, it’s a celebration in itself. £35 here.

Don’t fancy going to a tailor? Let them come to you – or at least a virtual one with Swedish menswear tailor Suitopia. Newly launched in the UK, each suit is made to fit using the measurements you provide through their website. If that all sounds difficult, just take a look at the photos onsite to find out exactly where the tape measure should start and finish. Your measurements are then stored for future orders or adjust them as necessary.

There’s no denying that a three-piece suit looks extremely dapper on any chap, but that extra piece often means a disproportionate price hike. If you’re opting for a casual dinner suit look, you can complete the look yourself with one of Burton’s great looking and affordable waistcoats.
This pinstripe number is a classic in black. Promising to lift any ordinary suit from looking suspiciously casual, to something more classic and formal, it’s a great investment. Best of all, though, it isn’t priced as one at just £30. More colours are available from the website.
