Do I really need to say anything? The picture speaks for itself, no? White chocolate for ‘her’ and a dark and white chocolate tuxedo for ‘him’. They come individually wrapped in a cellophane bag and tied with a ribbon bow.

But they don’t come cheap – petite apples (weighing around 8 ounces each) cost $74.95 for a set of 12, while jumbo apples (which serve up to eight people each – how are eight people going to share an apple?) cost $39.95 per pair. They’re by Beaucoup.

When I was a child, my nan was desperate to teach me how to crochet, but I was never interested. I’m interested now, though, because I’ve discovered amigurumi. (Sadly, it’s twenty years too late for my nan to teach me anything.)

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting cute creatures (I love that there’s an art of cute creatures!) and this wedding couple pattern is by SAPlanet on Etsy. Lovely as a keepsake, cake topper, or just to keep you occupied in the stressful run up to the big day.

Wedding bells … literally

I’ve just been perusing the winter issue of InStyle Weddings, which my wedding-planning cousin passed on to me, and I found a really sweet idea for a favour.

Rather than showering the bride and groom with rice, petals, or confetti, there’s an article in which the guests were given silver handbells for friends and family to ring. Tied to each bell was a card with good wishes for the newlyweds. The wedding in InStyle featured 170 bells, which aside from being expensive, would surely be an auditory nightmare, but I’d certainly keep this in mind if you’re planning a small affair.

Celebrate and Give wedding scheme with the NSPCC

Round about this time of year my email inbox starts receiving plenty of charity pleas. We all know that many couples already have their quota of toasters and that an alternative to a traditional wedding list is to ask for charity donations or to make donations in your guests names. I almost feel guilty for typing that some of the charities literally just ask for your cold hard cash on your day, something that isn’t always easy to pass on to your guests nor welcomed by them as some of our readers have previously commented.

At least the NSPCC (National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children) dresses up their plea with the Celebrate and Give wedding scheme. All donations aid the charity’s work to end cruelty to children or the couple are encouraged to give NSPCC personalised favour cards instead of usual favours. Godiva is yet another website packed with mouth wateringly delicious chocolate. With around 20 different styles and prices ranging from $4 – $9 there should be something for most tastes and budgets. I should imagine there is some risk of chomping them before the guests get them though or maybe that’s just me.
