Secret wedding? Natalie Portman shows of eco wedding ring at the Oscars

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on February 29th, 2012

Rumours that Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied have gotten married have been doing the rounds ever since Sunday’s Oscars when they turned up on the red carpet with matching, unexplained silver bands on their wedding fingers.

Did they marry in secret? According to American magazine People, the jeweller who designed the rings has let the cat out of the bag. Jamie Wolf, jeweller-to-the-stars – and a personal friend of Natalie and Benjamin – was responsible for the wedding rings, having created two bespoke designs.

Portman’s shiny new sparklers is made with two tiny eco-friendly, ethically sourced diamond rings and has been designed to fit snugly around her huge engagement ring. Millepied on the other hand could be seen wearing a platinum band made from recycled metals.

Loved up and environmentally aware. We like!

Is Adele heading for the altar? Flashed huge ring on engagement finger at the BRITs

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on February 22nd, 2012

Could Britain’s darling Adele be heading toward marriage with her new boyfriend Simon Konecki?

The singer, who took home two awards at last night’s BRIT Awards was photographed wearing a huge sparkler on her engagement finger, which has of course sparked rumours.

The 23-year-old wore two bands on the same finger of her left hand, one small one which was overshadowed by a large yellow emerald ring. If Simon has in fact popped the question we don’t know, but we do hope that lots of happiness awaits Adele, who has famously made a success of her relationship breakups.

Looking at the photo above, Adele will make a very pretty bride if and when she does get married. Oh we do hope this rumour is true!

Wedding dress inspiration: Glorious Marchesa A/W 2012 at New York Fashion Week

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on February 16th, 2012

We’re bound to see one of these gowns by Marchesa at the forthcoming Oscars in March, but will we see the designs transferred into the bridal world? I do hope so!

The rather angelic autumn/winter 2012 collection was inspired by a 1879 portrait painting ‘ A Soul Brought to Heaven’ by William Adolphe Bourgueraus. The show was a dreamlike spectacular with floaty, ott ball gowns that will make any woman the belle of the ball – her wedding!

Be ready for winter brides to look for embroidery, lace, feathers, more lace, tulle… and did I mention lace?

Not the size of the bling but the thought behind the engagement ring that counts, survey finds

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on February 10th, 2012

With the nature of this site it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we feel quite romantic and loved up most days. But with Valentine’s Day just around the corner and it being a leap year and all, there is a definite feeling of love is in the air.

Valentine’s Day (love it or hate it) is a day for where many ladies will find a ring at the bottom of the Champagne flute, men will have sore knees (you have to do the proposal right!) and relationships will move into the next phase.

If the thought of the expense of an engagement ring is making you break out in cold sweat, torn between the love for your lady and wanting to a ring that matches her value (to which there is none) and paying your rent over the next months, here is some good news.

A study by London Business School shows that people don’t really appreciate expensive gifts that much more than inexpensive gifts .

‘Men seem to feel pressure to propose with a really expensive ring, thinking it will signal thoughtfulness, when in reality their future fiancés don’t differentiate between more or less expensive diamonds’ says Dr Gabrielle Adams, who led the research.

Through surveying engaged couples online the study found that men constantly thought the more they spent on their rings, the more their fiancées appreciated them.  Fiancées, on the other hand, did not rate themselves any more appreciative if the rings were more costly.

To be honest, your lady is most probably just happy that you asked and delighted to have you show love and commitment.

Kelly Brook launches vintage inspired lingerie for New Look

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on February 9th, 2012

With news that the CoE are putting up the cost of getting married in one of their venues, you might already be thinking of where to make cuts in your wedding budget…

I would never advise you to skimp on your wedding day and night lingerie as good underwear can truly make your wedding look. Sorry to break it to you, but that expensive gown will not look perfect if you’re wearing a tatty old bra underneath… This is particularly the case if you are blessed with a fuller figure.

But for busty brides-to-be on a tight budget, news of Kelly Brook lingerie for New Look will be welcome. The British model/actress/celeb has designed a vintage inspired lingerie collection for the high-street chain that won’t break the bank and keep the girls happy. Embrace those curves!

A plastic fantastic wedding? Increasing number of brides turn to cosmetic surgery survey finds

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on February 3rd, 2012

Yep you heard us; an increasing number of brides-to-be are opting for ‘bridalplasty’ to enhance their looks on their wedding day.

The new wedding report by Confetti has found that 10% of brides admit to having some form of cosmetic surgery before walking down the aisle. And a whopping 50% are following in the footsteps of celebrities and opt for expensive teeth whitening treatments and veneers.

However, despite splashing out on her looks the report did reveal that today’s average bride is making cutbacks, with 61% spending less than £10,000 on their wedding.

Personally, I am all for teeth whitening. You don’t really want to look at your wedding photos in five years’ time and regret that wine/coffee/cigarette stained smile…

How is your wedding planning going? Are you having any treatments done before you say ‘I do’?
