There’s nothing more exciting than when bridal designers unveil their latest collections. And it was no exception when Vera Wang revealed her Spring 2013 Bridal Collection on her blog.

Inspired by the colour of love, red – which is also the traditional Chinese wedding colour – Vera Wang’s latest bridal range is simply beautiful. Offering fairytale-like, ethereal wedding dresses, featuring lots of intricately layered ruffle and corset solhouettes that give you waists to die for. If you’d rather keep to the more classic ivory, each design can be made to suit your taste, but we love the fiery passion in these gowns.

Which one is your favourite?

Introducing Victoria Tryon bespoke engagement rings

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on April 18th, 2012

If you’re looking for a jeweller to create a bespoke engagement ring – like Brad Pitt did for Angelina Jolie – here’s a little gem for you.

Having grown up in a picture-perfect Wiltshire village, Victoria Tryon spent most of her childhood days outdoors, absorbing the beauty of the English countyside. The colours, forms and textures discovered as a young girl has certainly inspired Victoria in her career as a fine jeweller, as she has worked with some of the world’s greatest jewellery houses.

Victoria launched her eponymous brand in 2009 with the aim of producing unique pieces that each have a story to tell. A trained Gemmological Institute of America grader, Victoria will look at discovering the emotions behind each bespoke commission.

It’s official: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are engaged!

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on April 16th, 2012

After months and perhaps even years of speculation, it is finally official: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (or Brangelina as they’ve been dubbed) are engaged to be married. The couple, who met at the filming of Mr & Mr  Smith seven years ago, have previously said that they wouldn’t tie the knot until it was equal for everyone.

Earlier in the year, Pitt told US media that the couple has been ‘getting a lot of pressure from the kids’ to get married. And it now seems that the pressure from their six children finally became the deciding factor.

According to the couple’s rep, there isn’t a wedding date yet, but the ring that Angelina was seen wearing last week is ‘a promise for the future’. The most talked about piece of jewellery in La La Land isn’t any off-the-shelf kind of thing either.

Pitt has been working with jeweller Robert Procop for a year to design the sparkler. Commenting on the collaboration a statement from Procop said: ”Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina’s hand,” the statement continued. “Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.”

As mentioned there is still no news about when the Hollywood power couple will wed or what style of wedding they will have and where in the world it will happen. Our bet is on a more subdued event rather than a Kardashian-esque extravaganza (both Brad and Angelina have been married previously), and somewhere that means something to the couple – and their children. Perhaps Cambodia, Ethiopia, Namibia, Vietnam or Nice where the couple’s children were born/adopted from…

Also unknown is the design of Angelina’s wedding dress. We think she’d look stunning in a vintage gown, only with less leg on display than at the recent Oscar’s.

Art deco inspired bridal jewellery by Amanda Field

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on April 11th, 2012

You had me at art deco. As one of my favourite eras (although the 50′s are pretty amazing too), any art deco inspired jewellery and gowns will grab my attention. The glamour and elegance of the 20′s and 30′s are definitely present in Amanda Field’s new Eternity Collection.

Each piece has been created with a particular attention to detail, featuring specially selected gems and material:

“The ancient Greeks believed pearls to be Aphrodite’s tears of joy and pearls, symbolic of innocence and purity, and pearls are a stunning feature of the bridal headpieces. Quartz, a stone of protection and care, complements pearls beautifully, and the subtle sparkle offered by the gem quality faceted pieces evokes Art Deco to perfection.”

A selection of jewellery, headpieces, hats, fascinators and headbands, there is something in this collection for both the bride, bridesmaids and wedding guests.

Diamond ring made out of one massive diamond

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on March 28th, 2012

Could this be the engagement ring to end all engagement rings?!

Swizerland-based Shawish Jewelry has created a diamond ring that makes Beyoncé’s 18-carat engagement ring from Jay-Z and the late Elizabeth Taylor’s 30-carat sparkler from Richard Burton look like peanuts. The giant rock is said to be a 150-carat diamond ring. And this is all diamonds:  the entire ring is made out of one huge diamond.

Now while we continue to drool over the image of what the dazzler would look like on our hand, it is worth noting that the ring is expected to sell for around $70 million – that’s about £44m.

We’re told it has taken Shawish one year to carve the diamond and as expected the design has already been copyrighted.

Add a dash of colour with Seventy Seven Diamonds

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on January 13th, 2012

With January being one of the most gloomy months of the year, we wouldn’t blame you for thinking about brighter, more colourful things. And it just happens that we’ve got the perfect way to add some more colour to your life!

If you’ve recently become engaged and are to be married, Seventy Seven Diamonds, the online diamond retailer, is now offering a collection full of coloured diamonds.

The website now boasts the largest selection of certified natural fancy coloured diamonds in the world. The retailer launched in 2005 and have since become one of the most innovative online diamond companies to sell loose and set diamond jewellery in the UK.

Due to a large number of hues and shades caused by nature (and tiny particles found inside a diamond), you will have several hundreds colours to choose from, which makes the diamond you go for even that more unique! Boron causes a blue shade, nitrogen goes yellow, while other colours like red and brown cause lattice defects.

The stones can be purchased as a loose diamond or by choosing the bespoke service at their London W1 showroom. Trust us, seeing the diamonds up close is definitely something and well worth the trip!

Wedding idea: Turn your bridal tiara into a beautiful necklace

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 1st, 2011

A lot of you will choose to adorn your beautiful selves with a dazzling tiara for your wedding day. And as gorgeous as they are the question about what you do with it after you’ve said your ‘I dos’ is likely to be brought up. It’s not like we live in a world where walking around like a princess every day, sporting a sparkling headpiece, is considered normal.

But having spent money on it, it would be a shame to just have it sit in a box until your daughter or son’s future wife is ready to wear it. Jewellery is made to be worn so it could be an idea to turn your tiara into a stunning necklace or brooch.

This way you have something beautiful to wear that is a timeless reminder of your perfect day!
