Tuesday blues: crystal garter charm

By Hannah Kane on December 23rd, 2008

crystalblue.jpgI’m a sucker for tradition – and this lovely garter charm, £6 from Princess Polly Tiaras, is the ideal way to represent your “something blue”. It’s made with a blue Swarovski crystal heart surrounded by sparkling aurora borealis crystals.

Vintage Love Is… necklaces

By admin on December 18th, 2008

LoveIs.jpgWhilst you probably wouldn’t wear these with your wedding dress, they really are cute as a button so pop them in with a bridesmaid or flowergirls gift basket. They’ll be especially poignant if they can remember the days when the famous ‘Love is…’ cartoon pic came out. The necklaces are vintage, there are lots in the range and they are a brilliant £5 from Love Hearts and Crosses.

Heart of gold: the Ernest Jones 9ct white gold heart locket

By Hannah Kane on December 16th, 2008

heartlocket2.jpeg
When I was a cute little 5 year old with golden ringlets (many moons ago before I discovered GHDs and peroxide) I was asked to be a bridesmaid at wedding – after which the bride presented me a lovely silver heart locket that I have treasured ever since and worn religiously every day. This 9ct white gold necklace (£97.87 from Ernest Jones) is very similar, and I guarantee it would make a wonderful, lasting gift to the girls helping make your day so special.

Snowflake pendants at Tiffany

By admin on December 15th, 2008

Tiffany snowflakes.jpg
I can’t imagine anything prettier for a winter bride than these lovely snowflake pendants. There is a big difference in the prices but I’m sure both will appeal. The one on the left is £110 for the charm and £35 for the sterling silver chain, here. The one on the right is made up of brilliant diamonds in platinum and also on a 16inch chain for £1625 here.

Arm cuffs at Beady Eye Designs

By admin on December 8th, 2008

BeadyEye cuff.jpgWe’ve mentioned cuff bracelets before but Beady Eye Designs have spotted a new trends for wearing them. I’m not sold on the idea of fitting one round your ankle but I do love the thought of one worn on the upper arm especially if you’re going for a Grecian or very summery look.

Vintage 1950′s bridal necklace on Etsy

By admin on December 1st, 2008

Whilst many of us shop in large stores for convinience, it’s really important to support smaller, independent retailers and quite often that is where you’ll find the really unique, lovely stuff that people are always kicking themselves because they didn’t find it first. Here’s a case in point – where else but Etsy are you going to find a double strand of Swarovski crystal pearls decorated with a rhodium and rhinestone brooch for $76? Shipping to the UK is just $4!

I Love You postcard charm necklace from Polly & Prince

By admin on November 28th, 2008

133.jpgHow lovely is this charm necklace? While hearts are always a classic, there’s something great about a unique, yet still sweet, piece of jewellery.

This postcard necklace is handmade in London, too, so it’s an ethical way to gift your bride with something that will mean a lot. Now all I have to do is leave a sneaky hint for my boyfriend to get me one. It’s just £15 from Polly & Prince.

Dorothy Perkins Lovebirds brooch

By admin on November 25th, 2008

lovebirds.jpgBrooches are a really great way to inject something a little bit different into your bridal look. While birds on jewellery might border on the eccentric, this little Lovebirds brooch by Dorothy Perkins really pulls it off for me.

Perfectly on theme for a wedding, this is romantic and looks adorable too. If you don’t want to attach it to your dress, why not your stole or even a clutch bag for the evening? It’s available now from Dorothy Perkins for £10.

Hultiquist pearl daisy necklace

By admin on November 25th, 2008

Hultquist.jpgDanish brand Hultquist will probably be a new name to many of us but I hope it sticks! This daisy necklace has a wonderfully fresh appeal to it with pearl petals and a crystal centrepiece for a dash of sparkle. I think it would look great for Spring brides and it can easily be worn after the day – it’s only £30 at The Accessories Studio. Other matching pieces are availble too.

Irregular pearls give a contemporary twist to traditional jewellery

By admin on November 25th, 2008

BeadyEyes.jpgThough I’ll always be a fan of a classic string of round pearls I’m certainly tempted by these irregular pearls too. The pearls are created due to an accident in the culturing process where bits break away from the original pearl to grow into irregular and unique shapes with smooth or crumpled surfaces with shapes from seeds to sticks. Prices are brilliant too – this three piece pearl and rondelle necklace and earrings set costs £16 at Beady Eyes.

By admin on November 20th, 2008

D21640-A.jpgFlowers on your jewellery may be a little bit cutesy for some, but if you’re after a fanciful bridal look, these daisy diamonds are gorgeous. They’re no kiddy jewellery either, made from platinum and 1.74 carats in total diamond weight.

Made by the John Apel brand, they’re high quality without being over the top. A great choice for those planning ahead for a Spring wedding, these are available from Astley Clarke now for a fairly whopping £3750.

I’m so glad when designers take the time to email me about their ranges. The Internet is such a massive place, I might not have come across the gorgeous range at F.N.U.E (From Now Until Eternity) otherwise. I particularly like the sentiment behind the ‘He Loves Me’ range which includes these sterling silver and silver and yellow gold rings from $485 and the cuff bracelet from $550. The pretty daisy flowers you see are movable too – isn’t that cool? There’s also international shipping for us UK people.
