Pretty pastels for summer weddings by Emmy Shoes

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on March 13th, 2012

Chloe – price on request

Who says you have to wear white – or ivory – shoes with your ivory wedding dress. Personally I love seeing brides’ personalties shine through the colour of shoes they opt for. For winter wedding a deep red will look gorgeous, especially if set against snow sprinkled hills.

But for a summer wedding it’s all about pretty pastels. And the latest collection by British designer Emmy is just that! And for that vintage feel these are just what you should be looking for. Inspired by the glamour of eras past, Emmy Scarterfield’s designs are made to the highest quality with kid suede and the finest leather. You can pick shoes off the shelf, or have a pair made bespoke to fit with your dream wedding and colour scheme.

Prices start from £260 (ready-to-wear) and £360 (bespoke) and takes eight to 14 weeks to deliver.

Exclusive Harriet Wilde bridal shoe collection launches at Harrods

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on December 5th, 2011

Wedding shoe extraordinaire Harriet Wilde has launched a floral inspired Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Harrods’ prestigious shoe boudoir. This season Harriet Wilde has fallen in love with delicate sprig cherry blossom – my favourite! – and pretty summer roses that create soft and romantic details.

The shapes include the every stylish, high heeled peep toe platforms, Betty Draper fifties courts, the more classic round toe courts (with or without platforms so you’re spoiled for choice).

Made from high quality ivory silk, this season’s exclusives are Sakura (the Japanese word for cherry blossoms) with ornate silver leaves and delicate pink cherry blossoms cascading down the heel. And if you are a bridal client of Harrods, you can get gorgeous hand painted flowers on any of the designs!

If you’re after a bit more blingtastic pair, then the Swarovskli crystal embellished  Bridgette and Polly will be your faves.

Excuse me while I head to Harrods…

The tradition of a bride wearing  Something Blue on her wedding day is alive and well, so I thought I’d put together a little gallery with inspiration for how you can incorporate blue into your outfit without looking like you’ve dressed up for Halloween.

Five is the lucky number for Kate Moss’s Manolo Blahnik wedding shoes

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on August 24th, 2011

It comes as no surprise that Kate Moss didn’t leave anything to chance when it came to her wedding to Jamie Hince last month, especially anything relating to her outfit. After all fashion is what she does.

Chosen shoe maker for her wedding day, and Sex and the City Carrie’s favourite, Manolo Blahnik has now revealed it too five tries to get the shoes perfect. “We did them five times to get them the way she wanted,” said Blahnik. “My workers are the best people. I wouldn’t be here without them.”

The legendary footwear designer created high-heeled sandals for the supermodel to wear with her John Galliano wedding dress. Blahnik continued: “The shoes arrived the day before and there were too many jewels on the heel because of the long train. So we had women working up until midnight to change it.”

Wonder if the Queen of Fashion would have said “off with his head” had the shoes not been to her liking in the end…

Do a Pippa and wear Aruna Seth bridal shoes

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on June 20th, 2011

All eyes may have been on older sister Kate for the royal wedding, but Pippa Middleton got her fair share of the attention. Media – and men – first took note of the Maid of Honour in her ivory Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress, and later when Pippa wore a green Temperley gown for the reception. But did you see her shoes?

Pippa wore  a pair of Aruna Seth bridal shoes, more presicely the Lynn heels in silver and Swarovski crystals. Due to popular demand – like her sister Pippa is turning into a style-queen – the Lynn design is now also available in gold and ivory, and can be yours for £525.00

Bridalwave loves: bridal shoes by Rachel Simpson

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on June 1st, 2011

When we recently had a wander around the White Gallery London we came across the beautiful 2012 collection from Rachel Simpson. A beautifully feminine collection of understated designs yet detail rich, we knew we had to share a chosen few with you.

Rachel Simpson draws inspiration from the modest ladylike styling of the early forties – the vintage feel is definitely there for anyone having a vintage wedding – with a modern twist of luxurious fabrics.

Shoes retail from £115.00.

And with so many colours options to choose from, who said brides need to be dressed head to toe in white?!

Lily Allen chooses Rupert Sanderson wedding shoes

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on May 27th, 2011

Rupert Sanderson 'Muscadet', Ivory Satin Knotted Peep Toes, £455

Lily Allen has asked Rupert Sanderson to create two pairs of shoes for her wedding day.

The ‘Smile’ singer wants a pair of flats and heels so she has a choice of footwear when she marries fiancé Sam Cooper in June and has roped in the famous designer to help her.

She told Vogue.co.uk: “He’s making me a pair of flats and a pair of heels, so I can run up and down hills. It’s much chicer to have two pairs I think. I just really hope it doesn’t rain.”

Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld will create the singer’s wedding dress.

Lily – who has recently turned fashion designer, launching her own vintage collection Lucy in Disguise with her sister Sarah Owen – also revealed she doesn’t have a particular style and chooses clothes based on her mood.

She said: “It’s up and down. The way I’m feeling really effects what I wear, my mood I mean. I basically put on whatever I think will make me feel happy that day.”

Bridalwave Loves, Shoes, The Royal Wedding

Bridalwave loves: princess shoes by Georgina Goodman

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on April 26th, 2011

We apologise for going royal wedding crazy here. But do you blame us?! It’s THE wedding of the year!!

We don’t know what shoes Kate will be wearing as she walks down the aisle to her Prince Charming, but these especially commissioned wedding shoes by leading British shoe designer Georgina Goodman for the Royal Mint would be a great choice.

Inspired by the traditional wedding rhyme “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”, only eleven pairs have been made to celebrate the Royal Wedding, and princess-in-waiting Kate has already been sent a pair.

Each shoe has been hand finished at Georgina’s Mayfair studio, making every pair unique. The body of the shoe is made from the finest Italian suede and handmade lace, whilst the heel is embellished with Swarovski crystals.
