Gone are the days when a bride’s shoes simply served the purpose of conveying her safely to the aisle, hidden beneath yards of fabric; they’re now every much a part of the ensemble as the dress itself — which for the shoe lovers among us is no hardship!
Wedding shoes need to really make a statement, and some of the most full-on foot candy I’ve seen lately comes from Aruna Seth, whose exquisitely-adorned shoes make perfect bridalwear. The hand-made, ivory satin ‘Cerise’ shoes shown here, with their oversized bow and Swarovski crystal trim, are both graceful and contemporary, while those going for a more romantic look will love ‘Farfalla’; sparkling satin peep toes embellished with Swarovski butterflies. Here I go again in my quest to find a steady stream of non-frumpy shoes that won’t look to out-of-place on the aisle, and today I bring you these beauties by Kurt Geiger’s recently re-launched Fashionista’s range.
The blush champagne variation of ‘Mayfair’, pictured here, would work well with many offbeat or traditional themes and really has got it all: a subtle platform, hi-gloss metallic finish and a beautiful corsage made with hat lace and vintage-style buttons. Available from Kurt Geiger in store or online for £200

Your special day requires special shoes. Bliss Bridal Shoes always has you covered, but now for the more discerning, the more shoe-obsessed bride there’s a Limited Edition Collection that I can’t stop perusing.
Rhinestones and pearls, this special collection spares no luxurious detail or embellishment. The Artista, above, is one of my favorites.

You might baulk at the idea of bridal shoes from Clarks, but I’m loving the label’s new crop of evening shoes, all of which have a subtle glamour and classic style about them. In shades of champagne, pewter and nude pink, the shoes are perfect for wedding co-ordination.
And as they’re made by Clarks – the brand that many of us wore throughout our schooldays – you just know they’d see you reliably down the aisle, then let you party the night away in comfort without compromising on style, enjoying every step while others struggle away in strappy nightmares! All shoes shown here are below the £50 mark; check out the full party range for more.

I was chatting with Dave the Shoe Guy for a fashion story this week, and he told me an adorable story about how he proposed to his wife – and met Manolo Blahnik along the way – I just had to share here.
Dave and his wife-to-be met and started dating while working in the shoe department at Nordstrom. One Valentine’s Day as he was getting ready to ask her to marry him, Manolo Blahnik, Dave’s favorite shoe designer, came out with a sparkly silver sandal that was $2,000 with only 36 made in the entire world.

As a wee, short person, I’m more than used to buying shoes that elevate me above the height at which skirts drag on the ground. But this is an issue that brides-to-be of all sizes have to contend with, and finding something that’s both stylish and tall is a good idea if there’s any chance of rain on your big day.
These white platforms by ASOS are a good example of what to look for. They’re probably the exact opposite of what most of us would pick for any other occasion, but will blend in seamlessly with your wedding look. Get them for £45 here.

Finding the perfect shoes for your wedding can be even more difficult than finding the perfect gown – particularly for a shoe fanatic. (Who, me?) Add in the challenge of irregular sizes or widths, and you can really feel screwed.
Don’t worry, Stuart Weitzman is here to help. The brand, which features a fabulous bridal line, is now offering 11 white satin styles in sizes 5-10 M, 7-9 N and 6-9 W. And these styles are really the cream of the crop, like the Lover, $325, at left.
You can peruse the styles in-person at the Stuart Weitzman store, try on a sample (which are in-store and used only for fitting) order it to be received in a few days.
Keep reading to see more styles!

Net-A-Porter’s sale is prime eye candy and though even most of the sale prices are beyond my pocket, a girl can dream. These Brian Atwood slingbacks would make neat wedding shoes with their kitten heels and off white patent and the price is down from £254.47 to £190.85.

If you’re really not a heels kind of girl then there’s probably no point struggling with a pair on your big day. Even if you are, you might want to kick them off and slip into something more comfortable for the party. These lovely silver “Henrietta” ballet pumps, £75 from French Sole are just the ticket. They have slim rubber soles for stability, are cut low for a bit of extra toe cleavage and extremely comfortable. They’d look great with a floor length ballerina style tulle skirt and silver accents. I wouldn’t advise wearing pumps with a shorter dress unless you are blessed with exceptionally slim calves and ankles!

Behold the perfect wedding shoe! As sod’s law dictates, it’s only available Stateside but surely it’s worth the shipping. White satin, crystal detail on the peep-toe, extra cushioning and a 3.5inch heel. The best bit? The deep blue sole, reminiscent of those mythical blue soled wedding Louboutins.
“Ava” wedding shoe, $148 from Blue Tux.

Bridal footwear can be awfully stuffy, but put a big bow on a court shoe and you’ve got instant girly fun that’s both smart and romantic – ideal for weddings.
Fashion’s going mad for bows at the moment, so if you like this look you’ve got loads of options, whether you’re looking for a high end shoe for your special day or an affordable copy that’ll happily stand up to a day’s wear and tear.
