Dazzling bridal shoes by Lanvin

By AbiSilvester on May 12th, 2009

lanvin-shoes.jpgI was completely blown away when I first clapped eyes on these amazingly decadent shoes by Lanvin, which aer shiny all over; from the satin sheen of their nude uppers to the daring Swarovski ‘bracelet’ around their skinny heels.

For most of us, these will have to be filed safely in the ‘shoe inspiration’ category for now, as they’re not cheap. But it did occur to me that when there’s a wedding in the offing, we all turn our minds to those ‘investment purchases’ you’d never normally go for, so why not make these your wedding shoes and keep them for dressing up afterwards? They’re yours for £780 at Net-a-Porter

karen-millen-butterfly-shoes.jpgKaren Millen really is the queen of occasionwear, and she’s come up trumps with these peep-toe sandals that are adorned with an almost lifelike butterfly decoration that’s perfect wedding wear for brides and guests alike!

The subtle platform gives these shoes their fashion-forward edge, making them perfect for those who want to attend formal events without having to resort to stuffy dressed-up footwear. £150 at Karen Millen

Sparkle your way down the aisle in Louboutins

By AbiSilvester on May 5th, 2009

glitter-louboutin.jpgThis fairytale shoe has been doing the rounds on many of the bridal blogs this past week or so, but I just had to feature it as it speaks so loudly to my inner princess I just had to have it too! *stomp*.

Louboutin’s glitter platform pumps are the stuff dreams are made of, and if you’re going for glam on your big day, these could be the perfect wedding present to yourself. They’re not classic bridal satin, but who’s saying that’s a bad thing? Having these beauties peeping out from a contemporary-style ivory gown sounds like a great start to married life to me!

Budget Bridal shoes by Red Herring

By AbiSilvester on April 29th, 2009

red-herring-bow-heels.jpgI spotted these stylish chocolate bow peep-toe heels over on Shoewawa, and immediately thought they’d make fantastic wedding shoes. They’re made from a shimmery material (with obligatory oversized bow!) that looks special enough to do the job but will really help with the budget at just £30, and I like the Louboutin-style block colour heels, too.

Available at Debenhams

Somewhere over the rainbow…

By AbiSilvester on April 28th, 2009

rainbow-club.jpgNo, I’m not about to suggest you wear ruby slippers on your big day (although I’d wholeheartedly approve of anyone who did!) but I just wanted to sing the praises of Rainbow Club, whose shoes and accessories seem to be enjoying major success among style-conscious brides just now.

And it’s easy to see why: the prices are pretty decent, quality’s great and there are some top designers on board. Follow the jump to see what I picked out while accessorizing for my fantasy wedding!

Show-stopping bridal footwear by Aruna Seth

By AbiSilvester on April 9th, 2009

Gone are the days when a bride’s shoes simply served the purpose of conveying her safely to the aisle, hidden beneath yards of fabric; they’re now every much a part of the ensemble as the dress itself — which for the shoe lovers among us is no hardship!

Wedding shoes need to really make a statement, and some of the most full-on foot candy I’ve seen lately comes from Aruna Seth, whose exquisitely-adorned shoes make perfect bridalwear. The hand-made, ivory satin ‘Cerise’ shoes shown here, with their oversized bow and Swarovski crystal trim, are both graceful and contemporary, while those going for a more romantic look will love ‘Farfalla’; sparkling satin peep toes embellished with Swarovski butterflies. Avant garde wedding shoes at Kurt Geiger Fashionistas

By AbiSilvester on March 23rd, 2009

fashionistas-mayfair.jpgHere I go again in my quest to find a steady stream of non-frumpy shoes that won’t look to out-of-place on the aisle, and today I bring you these beauties by Kurt Geiger’s recently re-launched Fashionista’s range.

The blush champagne variation of ‘Mayfair’, pictured here, would work well with many offbeat or traditional themes and really has got it all: a subtle platform, hi-gloss metallic finish and a beautiful corsage made with hat lace and vintage-style buttons. Available from Kurt Geiger in store or online for £200

Spring into summer: LK Bennett Suraiya sandals

By AbiSilvester on March 10th, 2009

lk-bennett.jpgI always say that the best place to find wedding shoes is outside the bridal catalogue, both in terms of value and style – and these stunning peep-toes are a good example of why I do. LK Bennett shoes rarely come below the £100 mark, but these are a steal at £79, reduced from £130. If you’re planning a high spring or summer wedding, a pair of cool, elegant sandals like these could be just the thing to complete your outfit and see you safely down the aisle in style. Available direct from LK Bennett

Clarks will see you down the aisle in comfort and style

By AbiSilvester on February 19th, 2009

clarks-shoes.jpg
You might baulk at the idea of bridal shoes from Clarks, but I’m loving the label’s new crop of evening shoes, all of which have a subtle glamour and classic style about them. In shades of champagne, pewter and nude pink, the shoes are perfect for wedding co-ordination.

And as they’re made by Clarks – the brand that many of us wore throughout our schooldays – you just know they’d see you reliably down the aisle, then let you party the night away in comfort without compromising on style, enjoying every step while others struggle away in strappy nightmares! All shoes shown here are below the £50 mark; check out the full party range for more.

With these Manolos, I thee wed…

By Andrea Thatcher on February 6th, 2009

Dave the Shoe guy wedding Manolos.jpg

I was chatting with Dave the Shoe Guy for a fashion story this week, and he told me an adorable story about how he proposed to his wife – and met Manolo Blahnik along the way – I just had to share here.

Dave and his wife-to-be met and started dating while working in the shoe department at Nordstrom. One Valentine’s Day as he was getting ready to ask her to marry him, Manolo Blahnik, Dave’s favorite shoe designer, came out with a sparkly silver sandal that was $2,000 with only 36 made in the entire world.

Wedding shoes for minimal dress-drag!

By AbiSilvester on January 29th, 2009

hilton-heels.jpgAs a wee, short person, I’m more than used to buying shoes that elevate me above the height at which skirts drag on the ground. But this is an issue that brides-to-be of all sizes have to contend with, and finding something that’s both stylish and tall is a good idea if there’s any chance of rain on your big day.

These white platforms by ASOS are a good example of what to look for. They’re probably the exact opposite of what most of us would pick for any other occasion, but will blend in seamlessly with your wedding look. Get them for £45 here.

Stuart Weitzman makes bridal shoe shopping easier

By Andrea Thatcher on January 27th, 2009

Stuart Weitzman bridal.jpg

Finding the perfect shoes for your wedding can be even more difficult than finding the perfect gown – particularly for a shoe fanatic. (Who, me?) Add in the challenge of irregular sizes or widths, and you can really feel screwed.

Don’t worry, Stuart Weitzman is here to help. The brand, which features a fabulous bridal line, is now offering 11 white satin styles in sizes 5-10 M, 7-9 N and 6-9 W. And these styles are really the cream of the crop, like the Lover, $325, at left.

You can peruse the styles in-person at the Stuart Weitzman store, try on a sample (which are in-store and used only for fitting) order it to be received in a few days.

Keep reading to see more styles!
