Prince William and Princess Catherine set for world tour but honeymoon plans remain unknown

By Elisabeth on May 3rd, 2011

If you didn’t manage to catch a real-life glimpse of Prince William and Princess Catherine last Friday, 29 April, when they married at Westminster Abbey – perhaps you were, like us, close enough to hear the cheers from the crowds outside Buckingham Palace as we watched the events from Hyde Park but not in clear view of the couple – you could be able to see the newlyweds as they head off on a “world tour” next year.

According to The Sun, the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to make official visits to Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean, as well as other Commonwealth countries in Africa and Asia to ease 85-year-old Queen Elizabeth’s workload in her Diamond Jubilee year.

This is not part of their honeymoon plans, which have yet to be revealed. However, rumours have it that William and Catherine will jet off to a secret hideaway in the Indian Ocean for a belated honeymoon. The newlyweds spent their first weekend as husband and wife at a secret location in the UK, away from the media attention.

Where do you think the happy newlyweds are heading for their honeymoon?

Gallery: Honeymoon clothing

By Andrea Petrou on January 21st, 2010

Every couple feels a little bit smug when they’re jetting off on their honeymoon.

After all, you only get married once and it’s your way of showing all the other holiday makers that you’ve accomplished the wars of the wedding day. While some may tell a select few fellow passengers or an air hostess that it’s their honeymoon others may go that bit further.

If, like Monica and Chandler in Friends, you want to tell anyone who will listen, or in this case look, that you’re on your honeymoon then we’ve found the clothing to do it with, making you look like a WAG in the process.

Fancy a Romeo and Juliet wedding in Verona?

By AbiSilvester on March 17th, 2009

romeo-and-juliet-wedding.jpgMost weddings involve an element of drama, so why not go all-out and base your big day on the best known romantic theatre piece of all time? (hopefully avoiding the tragedy at the end!)

The dream is now a possibility, as the Verona Tourist Board is hoping to woo couples with the promise of Shakespearean romance by inviting them to tie the knot on the balcony where Romeo and Juliet are supposed to have lived. [Via IDoSugar]

A romantic getaway the Ralph Lauren way

By Andrea Thatcher on February 25th, 2009

Romance Always Yours at Rosewood - FINAL.jpg

A few weeks ago I wrote about the Ralph Lauren Romance Always Yours fragrance and how perfect it would be for a wedding scent. Well, it seems the 10th anniversary of the original Romance perfume really has the folks at Ralph Lauren thinking romantically (like us!).

Along with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, they’ve created a custom weekend getaway package for $799 that includes two nights in one of their luxurious hotels, a customized Ralph Lauren cashmere throw (there’s that monogramming I love), a limited edition bottle of Romance Always Yours, a candlit dinner and spa treatments for two, and more.

This would make a great wedding present or first anniversary treat. Perhaps you could even use the weekend to look at the hotel for a wedding venue! The Ralph Lauren package is only available through the end of March. Call 1-888-Rosewood or visit www.rosewoodhotels.com to make reservations.

How far would you travel to get married?

By admin on November 12th, 2008

cheryl with the hitchcocks.jpgYou’ve heard of destination weddings, I imagine, but usually it involves a UK couple travelling abroad to get married. But when Leah Etheridge and Ian Hitchcock travelled 6,000 miles to tie the knot, it was from San Diego – the city which claims the world’s most perfect climate – to Norfolk. They married at the Broad House Hotel in Wroxham, in the heart of the county.

Wedding dress storage box

By admin on October 14th, 2008

n45814443824_1313650_8685.jpgI must admit, I haven’t ever given much thought to how you transport your dress in the event that you’re getting married abroad. I guess I was spoiled by the fact that I only had an hour’s drive to my own wedding. Also, my dress was teeny and could probably have fit in my handbag… Luckily, other people *have* given it some thought.

His and hers travel set – great for the honeymoon

By admin on March 19th, 2008

travel-set-slippers-376.jpgThis travel set from Delight includes one pair of slippers, one eye mask, and one luggage wrap and comes in fuchsia and chocolate.

I didn’t know what a luggage wrap was, but apparently you put it on the handle of your suitcase and it both helps you identify it on the carousel and makes it more comfortable to carry. A good idea, in other words.

Anyway, this kit would make a good wedding present, or favour at a destination wedding.

How much would you pay for a private wedding?

By admin on January 8th, 2008

reethirah1.jpgGot $1.2 million to spend on your wedding? No? Well if you did, you could rent a 109-acre island in the Maldives. At the One & Only Reethi Rah Resort, more than 200 guests can stay in one of 130 beach, over-water or duplex villas.

If that’s a bit beyond your budget (and, let’s face it, it probably is) then you can get the Legendary Sunset Wedding Package for just $2,240 per couple, which includes a master of ceremonies, music, a wedding coordinator, 20 photographs (woo!), flowers, champagne, cake, a candlelight dinner and more (but not much more).

Check out MSNBC for more “Ultra-exclusive destination weddings“.

Who wouldn’t want a perfect Italian wedding?

By admin on September 19th, 2007

Palazzo%201.jpgWhen me and my husband renew our wedding vows (which one day we’ll stop going on about and actually do) I’d like us to do it in Italy. I think it’s the most romantic place in the world, but the planning – of a wedding abroad – would have put me off. Until I discovered the Our Perfect Italian Wedding site that is. Run by specialist wedding coordinators with extensive knowledge of the region, they offer a completely bespoke, personal and professional wedding coordination service. I’ve bookmarked it. Now I just need to sell a kidney or two to pay for it.

Honeymoon luggage at Miss Selfridge

By admin on January 11th, 2007

Missselfrige_1

Ever since I booked my honeymoon I’ve been obsessed with going-away outfits and cute travel bags, so when we featured this print luggage set over at The Bag Lady, it got me obsessing all over again! All three pieces are from Miss Selfridge, with the bag costing £35, the passport cover £6 and the matching luggage tag just £3. The bold, retro print will make sure you’re looking stylish as you set off for your honeymoon (splitting headache and dry mouth aside), and make for a glamorous start to married life!

In the Food for Love cookery weekends – mini moons for foodies

By admin on December 12th, 2006

French_cookery

Mini moons – a small break or weekend away in the middle of all the wedding planning – are definitely on the upturn amongst stressed out couples. But if you fancy a foody getaway with a bit of romance, Normandy’s 18th century Le Manoir de L’Aufragere, could just be on the menu.

The three night break starts on a Thursday evening with dinner. The next day sees a visit to the local market for scallops and oysters which you’ll prepare and cook under the guidance of your hosts, cordon blue chef Nicky Dussartre and husband Regis, for lunch, followed by an afternoon ‘delice du chocolat’ masterclass. On Saturday, there’s a champagne breakfast with free time to explore the countryside before a five course dinner.

Keywest_1Tired of toasters and every other home appliance known to bride? Some of you certainly will be especially if you’ve set up home long before the wedding. Do Something Different.com aim to help you have the experience of a lifetime with your guests, um, funding it instead of buying you a traditional gift. Put your gift vouchers towards exciting trips like a champagne sunset catamaran cruise in Key West for £26 pp, Parker Ranch Horse Trail in Hawaii for £55pp or desert safari and susnet barbeque in Dubai for £35pp.

Of course, these prices don’t include your flights and hotels so you should bear that in mind. There’s tons more on offer and I highly recommend it for a good drool over adventures in fabulous locations.

By admin on August 25th, 2006

VegasCouples hoping to marry at quickie late night weddings in elopers paradise Las Vegas are going to have to make other plans from Monday. The Las Vegas Marriage Bureau which issues wedding licenses will now be closed between midnight and 8am due to money-saving measures amounting to $200,000 per year. Couples will still be able to marry in the early hours but will have to collect licenses during the day which will also, hopefully, make couples think before they say ‘I do’ (hmm, Britney?)

Bombay Duck Honeymoon Underwear Bag

By admin on August 15th, 2006

Bombay_duck_bagI will freely hold my hand up and say I am absolutely obsessed with holidays at the moment. I can’t help it, it’s August and I want to be somewhere warm! Perhaps that is why I was in raptures when I spotted Bombay Duck’s satin embroidered underwear bag or maybe it was just because it is so pretty. It’s perfect for storing your smalls on your honeymoon and I’m sure you’ll take it for every weekend away and vacation too. It comes in pink or black (only black seems available at the moment) and is embroidered in a lingerie design too – £18 Satin Underwear Bag.
