Gallery: Get the look, Cheryl Cole’s wedding dress

By Andrea Petrou on October 8th, 2009

Cheryl Cole’s wedding dress was designed by Roberto Cavalli and reportedly cost a staggering £110,000. We think she looked absolutely gorgeous in this fishtail strapless frock encrusted with crystals, and love the unique touch of gold running through her train.

If you want a similar dress to Cheryl’s but don’t want to shell out the extortionate fees, check out our gallery of fishtail dresses.

By Andrea Petrou on October 8th, 2009

Cheryl and Ashley ColeThe X-Factor judge and nation’s new sweetheart married her footballer on 15 July 2006, and like many famous couples sold their wedding photo’s to OK magazine, for which they received a reported £1m.

The £500,000 wedding took place at the 2,500-acre Wrotham Park estate, which is famous for its part in the drama Gosford Park, and included a church ceremony. The reception was held in a marquee erected in the grounds of the estate.

Cheryl was claimed to have used the same baker and florist of fellow wag and fashionista Victoria Beckham and the food was created by Rhubarb Food Design, who prepared the feast served at the wedding of Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones.

Footballer Jermaine Jenas and fiancee Ellie Penfold celebrate their engagement with an extravagant party

By Andrea Petrou on October 7th, 2009

jermaine_jenas.jpgWe couldn’t have planned this announcement for a better time considering our new wag wedding series. This time it’s a true wag style engagement party.

Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Jermaine Jenas hosted an extravagant ceremony to celebrate his engagement to fiancee Ellie Penfold.

The 25-year-old football star invited his Tottenham team-mates to the party in London, which included an appearance by rapper Nelly, 34, who serenaded the couple with his singing.

With an engagement as extravagant as this, we dread to see the wedding but we’ll have to wait a good few years as the couple say they are not planning to wed until 2011.

Gallery: Coleen Rooney’s wedding dress

By Andrea Petrou on October 7th, 2009

As we mentioned in our last post, Mrs Rooney wore a gorgeous Marchesa dress when she got married to Wayne in June 2008.

According to reports Coleen had been searching for her perfect dress for over a year and fell in love with this gown on a trip to New York. We can see why.

The ballgown style dress with a pintuck and ruffled skirt is stunning. We imagine the crystals also took a long time to put on.

We don’t expect many brides out there to be able to fork out the £100,000 Coleen reportedly paid for her frock, but we have found some similar and much cheaper alternatives.

Wag wedding #1: Coleen and Wayne Rooney

By Andrea Petrou on October 7th, 2009

coleen-wayne-wedding-26.jpg
Manchester United and England footballer Wayne Rooney married his childhood sweetheart, Coleen McLoughlin, on the Italian Riviera on 14 June 2008.

The couple braved heavy rain to exchange vows at the Villa Durazzo, a 17th Century palace in the resort of Santa Margherita Ligure and the reception was held in La Cervara, a 700-year-old former abbey.

The couple, who were paid £2.5 million by OK for exclusive picture rights, were said to have spendt £5 million on their special day. Included in this price were five private jets which flew 64 guests from the UK to the four-day celebrations, which included a lunch aboard a luxury yacht, a masked ball and champagne breakfast every morning.

Wayne also booked a hip-hop star and Westlife to perform at the event.

And of course Coleen was the belle of the ball with her £100,000 strapless Marchesa dress, which she found in New York.

Dos and don’ts inspired by WAG style wedding

By Andrea Petrou on October 6th, 2009

After our gallery yesterday, where we’re sure you’ll agree most of the brides looked gorgeous in their dresses, we’ve taken in all the mishaps and good things of their day’s to give you a list of do’s and don’ts for your own wedding day. Read on for our list of tips.

Do
check what the weather is like during the season you decide to get married in. Especially if you’re tying the knot abroad like Coleen and Wayne Rooney. The couple were forced to use umbrella’ for the day when it tipped it down at their venue in Portofino on the Italian Rivera. It may be a foreign country but it still has a rainy season.

Don’t overdo the fake tan like Claudine Palmer did when she married footballer sweetheart Robbie Keane. An Orangutan in a dress does not make for nice wedding pictures.

Don’t lose too much weight before your big day like Mrs Beckham. Despite what the media says, a stick in a big white dress is not an attractive look. Naturally slim brides should also pick a style that suits their body shape.

Don’t plan your wedding for the same weekend as three more of your friends or colleagues. This is what happened with John Terry, Gary Neville, Steven Gerrard, and Michael Carrick. If you have mutual friends they may feel torn.

Do accessorize props that you didn’t think you’d need on the big day, like Coleen and Wayne Rooney. They used their umbrellas to keep them dry and created a beautiful range of wedding photos.

Don’t
spend a fortune on your wedding dress. An average WAG dress costs around £10,000. You’ll only wear it once and you most definitely won’t be able to reclaim your money back by selling it on Ebay after the big day.

Don’t over accessorize your dress with diamantes like Claudine Palmer. Unlike Ms Palmer, we also advise you keep your, er, assets moderately covered. Less is more ladies.

Do keep it simple. White limousines, sparkles and bling aren’t what make a wedding.
