Kaviar Gauche causes bridal stir at Berlin Fashion Week with g-string wedding outfit

By Elisabeth on January 20th, 2012

Kaviar Gauche Berlin Fashion Week

And the bride wore… Hardly anything!

Most often less is more, but we’re not sure that this goes when it comes to wedding fashion. Berlin-based fashion label Kaviar Gauche caused quite the commotion when they sent this risqué wedding outfit down the runway at Berlin Fashion Week yesterday.

What can definitely not be classified as a wedding dress consists of a veil and… a bikini? The g-string and bra combo, joined together by a small piece of fabric, would look more at home on a Victoria’s Secret shoot than at a wedding.

The rest of their bridal collection was far more covering and included some stunning designs.

What do you think of the wedding bikini – more honeymoon than wedding ceremony?

Top ten wedding dress inspirations from the Golden Globes Awards 2012

By Elisabeth on January 16th, 2012

It’s awards season again! This of course means we get to drool over beautiful gowns as the A-list take to the red carpet. First out in the new year was the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards which took place last night.

Standing out on the red carpet were reportedly newly engaged Jessica Biel (where was the ring?!), a pale looking Angelina Jolie and a smouldering, gothic Mila Kunis.

Which one were your favourite dresses?

Vintage wonderland with Sabina Motasem Bride and Eltham Palace

By Elisabeth on January 9th, 2012

I do love when a bit of Art Deco lands in my inbox. This time it came from bridal designer Sabina Motasem Bride who has teamed up with one of London’s most sought after wedding venue, Eltham Palace, Greenwich – one of the UK’s finest examples of Art Deco style. The gorgeous venue is the backdrop of the labels’ new collection, which features vintage inspired wedding gowns for the modern bride who has a penchant for the eras past.

The new collection draws inspiration from the style and glamour of iconic performers at the Folies Bergeres in 1900s- 1930s Paris. Think slinky, understated dresses that complement the opulent and decadent Art Deco interior perfectly.

I’ll let you be the judge of the prettiest dress of them all, but these are gorgeous.

The “Cabaret” dress was shot in Stephen Courtauld’s bedroom, designed by John Seely, is an aspen lined bedroom with the side walls covered in scenic block printed wallpaper depicting Kew Gardens made by Sandersons, creating a delicate 3D effect.

Red carpet wedding dress inspiration: Jessica Biel and Lea Michele in Valentino

By Elisabeth on December 9th, 2011

When looking to find inspiration for your wedding dress, the red carpet and film premieres is always a good place to start. The Hollywood starlets usually come up trumps when it comes to style and since walking down the aisle is almost like the red carpet there is usually a thing or two to learn from the leading ladies of film.

At the recent ‘New Year’s Eve’ premiere, actresses Lea Michele and Jessica Biel both dazzled the crowds in a champagne coloured shimmery Valentino dress – Jessica’s a bit more demure than Lea’s mind. Both rocked the old Hollywood glamour and we simply can’t make up our minds of who wore Valentino best…

Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Bridal SS12: Feminine and playful from katyakatya shehurina

By Elisabeth on December 2nd, 2011

Latvian born fashion designer Katya Shehurina, the woman behind katyakatya shehurina, is definitely one to watch in the time to come – now also as a bridal designer. Her haute couture collections are feminine and playful, quite extravagant but seemingly also eminently wearable. She combines floaty layers and clever draping with opulent details such as lace, oversized flowers, jewels and tassels – providing a distinctly feminine with a dramatic edge. Love it!

Katyakatya shehurina will be exhibiting at the White Gallery London in May 2012.

Below is a selection of the more wedding friendly designs from the katyakatya shehurina spring summer 2012 collection.

Bridal wonderland: German brand kisui 2012 collection draws inspiration from fantasy realm

By Elisabeth on November 30th, 2011

Absolutely adoring the 2012 bridal collection by German brand kisui, whose A-line floor length wedding dresses are a vision of beauty. Made from lavish fabrics such as silk organza, chiffon and tulle, the inspiration for next year’s collection comes from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

The collection shows signs of romanticism and extravagance, mixed with minimalism and austerity. The violet and claret-red details on some of the gowns perfectly contrast the more plain classic silhouettes.

Personal favourites? Deva, Lillymy and Pearl.

Kisui will be showing its designs to the UK market at the White Gallery London fair in May 2012.

5 eco wedding dresses via Etsy

By Elisabeth on November 24th, 2011

With the world being in a dire state – disappearing polar ice and economic meltdown looming – it is no wonder that many people are wondering how they can make their lives, and weddings, greener. While I love the extravagant high fashion bridal designs I often write about here, I’ve also been increasingly wondering what is available out there for eco-chic brides-to-be.

I headed over to the Etsy marketplace to see what eco wedding dresses were to be found. And I didn’t end up disappointed; below are five of the gorgeous dresses made by independent designers, each single one a sure thing to make you a beautiful green bride.
