We start this new week with a gorgeous collection of wedding dresses and – we’re guessing – bridesmaids dresses. Actually if you want to wear navy to your wedding party who is to say you can’t.
American designer Sarah Seven is all about romance and simple decadence brought to life through unique pieces that are vintage inspired yet modern for the blushing bride. Romantic ruffles, delicate fabrics and lots of flowing layers make her 2012 bridal collection a dream. And the best thing yet, Sarah uses natural fabrics, silk, wool, linens, cotton voile as well as recycled vintage fabrics in her designs! We love!!

There is definitely something unique about Tatiana Porembova’s first wedding dress collection. Having found inspiration from cities around the world, including Tokyo, London, and Montreal, Tatiana brings a fresh, innovative and unique design to the bridal scene this year. After two years of design concept, Richmond-based Tatiana is finally able to present her own unique collection of designer wedding dresses.
The collection comprises of ten different designs that any bride would be thrilled to wear when gliding down the aisle. Tatiana has used an interesting mix of exquisite fabrics to create unique looks, and has enjoyed playing with structure and textures to produce some highly individual bridal gowns that make her collection stand out from other wedding dress designers. Her inspirations include: architecture, engineering and origami.

Think corsetry drama, statement bodices and theatrical romance perfect for your urban fairytale. And we love that the Anglomania Melissa shoes make an appearance!
We’ve been drooling over the first images from the collection all morning and couldn’t wait to share it with you.
Vivienne Westwood 2012 bridal collection
In the words of the label:
“For this latest bespoke Couture and Bridal Collection, Vivienne Westwood has extended the collection up to 20 styles, whilst remaining faithful to her strong belief that femininity ought to be celebrated. The tailoring, corsetry, crinoline, and soft lines of this collection all enhance the feminine silhouette. There are silk satins, georgette and chiffon for the draped and slinky styles, silk duchess and taffetas for the gowns, and embroidery, lace, tulle and sequins all to enhance the couture styles. Vera Wang Autumn 2012 Bridal Collection
Vera Wang has certainly taken a step away from traditional for autumn 2012. The queen of bridal design showed her latest collection at the New York bridal fashion week on Sunday, sending models down the aisle – err catwalk – in nude and black bridal gowns.
An array of gothic looking wedding dresses made from deconstructed chiffon, tulle, organza and silk definitely offers something different for brides wanting something else than white. Whether Vera has converted to Wicca or simply has been inspired by the gothic lace and Edwardian trends of late I don’t know, but her 2012 wedding dress collection is stunning. I want some of the black ensembles to wear for next year’s parties!
But the Big Question is: would you wear black on your wedding day?

Amanda Wakeley‘s second bridal collection is also a stunner – check out her Rahjastan collection for more exotic bridal gorgeousness. Set in Morocco, the designs feature full skirted gowns, an ivory mink jacket, Grecian inspired cuts, silk mikado and pearl beaded tulle among other things. There is also a wedding dress made out of jersey and one that features gunmetal chains. I think any bride can find her dream dress here.

Dressing up as Barbie is usually a thing for little girls with an obsession for pink, but it appears brides can also do it if they so wish. Trust the Japanese to come up with this. Home to Hello Kitty, they do love they cutesy cosplay outfits so it comes as no surprise that there is a Barbie Bridal collection. Actually the 2011 collection is the SIXTH line!

Having visited Tokyo a couple of years ago, I was mesmerised by the sartorial style of the Tokyoites: A bit cutesy, lots of cosplay and a hint of ultramodern. Looking at the names of Spanish designer Miquel Suay’s bridal gown collection it appears that he’s been inspired by the land of the rising sun, something which these images of the collection show. I love how he’s teamed the short, avant garde wedding dresses with bright red tights and lips, adding some much needed colour to what can normally be quite bland with its crisp white.
