Wedding Fund money box

By admin on November 19th, 2008

Moneybox.jpgI know most of you will be keeping your hard-earned cash somewhere more secure and likely to gain interest than in a money box but I think this is cute anyway. Perhaps you could use it to save up your spare change for that special but costly item such as a fabulous pair of shoes or a glam going away outfit? The moneybox is £19.95 at GettingPersonal and as it comes in a gift box, you might even find yourself receiving one for Christmas!

DS Imagine Dream Wedding for young gamers

By admin on November 19th, 2008

DS dream wedding.jpgI’m a big fan of the DS Lite as are my children so I think this game would be a winner for younger bridesmaids who enjoy the console. The game allows the player to plan a virtual wedding from the style to the bride’s dress and accessories, inviting the guests and more. Each ‘perfect wedding’ unlocks a new game but be prepared to act quickly to save the day if the ‘bride’ doesn’t like it! I don’t think it’s going to overly exert any brain cells but it might be fun. Get it for £24.99 at Amazon.

Zinc.jpg
Bollywood is big news and if you want a Bollywood-style wedding then Zinc Occasions have plenty of experience to bring you a dream wedding. Wedding planner Ibrar Hamed started the company last october after helping out planning a friend’s wedding and ending up with orders for more! Now he can create weddings for parties of 180 to events for 2500 guests though he enjoyed a challenge when 700 guests were invited only to see 1500 people turn up on the day. Ibrar said: “Those are challenges I love. If there’s a problem I have a trusted team to resolve it and I never panic.”

What RU Wearing – the website that ensures no fashion faux pas

By admin on October 10th, 2008

WhatRU.jpgFortunately I’ve never had an occasion where I’ve turned up wearing the same outfit as someone else. That either says a lot about my fashion or that I’m very lucky. Let’s go with the latter. For those of you who do want to ensure no fashion faux pas are committed at your wedding, get your guests to sign up to What R U Wearing.

The concept is simple – sign up is free, you can register events and your guests simply enter what they are wearing so that there won’t be two same outfits. Hopefully. Genius!

Forget all those bridal emergency kits with their plasters, pins and potions. What a girl really needs when she’s in trouble is chocolate. You could start off simple with blister packs of 30 chocolate pills (stick them in your handbag) for £3.95 or you could be prepared for every trying moment with a pharmacy in a box, including choccy beans, buttons, squares and bars for £19.95 at Prezzy Box.

BW Poll: Who do you go wedding shopping with?

By admin on September 29th, 2008

As I pounded the floor at last week’s National Wedding Show (more of that later), I couldn’t help but notice the startlign lack of men. Mothers, sisters, best friends, plenty, but men? About a dozen in total. It seems that wedding shopping is very much a woman thing. Of course, it could change over the weekend when more couples are off work but it did make me wonder just how many of you go shopping with your gal pals rather than your other halves?

Wedding memory box

By admin on September 18th, 2008

Memorybox.jpg
After all the hard work you’ve put in to planning your wedding, it almost seems mean to throw all the details you plan to keep into an ordinary plastic box. If you want an alternative, this one is made from sturdy card and has separate compartments inside plus a frame on top for a wedding snap. I think it can do without the bow though – £26 at Store.

Life’s little essentials with the Best Man Survival Kit

By admin on August 29th, 2008

bestmankit.jpgIs your best man the forgetful type? You could help him out with this Best Man Survival Kit (£5) which is packed with emergency cufflinks, ‘Don’t Panic’ wedding rings in case he loses the real ones (and if he is the type who might, keep hold of them yourself), mints, tissues, an energy slab which is presumably why he’ll need the next item, yes, a condom. That’ll certainly help him out with his speech…

Know How: Dealing with rainy day weddings

By admin on August 27th, 2008

WetWedding.jpgHere in the UK we’re very used to odd weather but that doesn’t stop us hoping for sunshine on special days. However, if you do get rain for your big day, don’t despair, Wedding Ideas editor Rachel Moschke tells us how to prepare for a wet wedding that will be anything but a disaster.

“Despite the grim weather, you can still have the day of your dreams”, says Rachel. “First and foremost, you should remember that the wedding is about making a lifelong commitment to the one you love, not the weather.”

1. Don’t worry about the weather. There is nothing you can do about it; it’s the one thing that you can’t control. We hear from hundreds of rained-on brides every year, who almost all say that they were so happy on the day that they hardly even noticed it was raining. Rain won’t ruin your day, but you walking around looking miserable will.

2. Be prepared! Treat yourself to a trendy pair of wellies from Funky Wellington Boots or even some bridal specials – you can change into your proper shoes once you’re safely inside.
