Get the look: Coco Rocha's wedding dress

Comments (0)

Ladies forget those strapless A-line dresses, because it seems that mermaid frock is back, well that's the style Coco Rocha wore when she got married recently.

We've been waiting a while to get a glimpse of the Zac Posen wedding dress the model wore to marry interior decorator James Conlan.

And there was a lot of excitement surrounding this frock so we were thrilled when Coco Twittered "I think I've left you all waiting long enough for this one..." followed by link to a full length photo of her frock.

We definitely think it was worth the wait. We think she looks gorgeous.

If you're brave enough to go for a mermaid frock then check out the gallery below for some similar styles.

Hilary Duff has joined the stream of celebrities getting married, tying the knot over the weekend.

The star who found fame playing Lizzie McGuire wed her hockey player beau, Mike Comrie, in a strapless number complete with a new train by designer du jour Vera Wang.

The couple were wed in an intimate evening wedding at the exclusive £29 million San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara where Hilary's sister and best friend, Haylie Duff, served as maid of honour, with her mother Susan reportedly walking her down the aisle.

A source called "one of the most beautiful weddings" they had ever seen. Aww congrats guys. We can't wait to see the pictures. Until then you can see some sneaky, albeit blurry images and videos, here.

First looks: Ayda Field's wedding dress

Earlier this week we bought you some very early pap shots of Ayda Field's and Robbie William's wedding day.

However, it wasn't very easy to see the bride's frock. So you can imagine how happy we were when the first official pictures of the pair's big day came out in Hello Magazine.

Held at the couple's £12million Beverly Hills home, the former Take That star took to the stage to serenade his new bride with a version of his hit song, Angels. And unlike Chelsea Clinton and Alicia Keys who opted for Vera Wang, Ayda went for a stunning strapless gown designed by Monique Lhuillier.

We think she looks gorgeous, so much so, that you'll have to keep reading this week for a special Get the Look gallery of the bride's frock.

Grecian dresses are becoming the style du jour in both mainstream and bridal fashion. Not only does this style look great, but it's also a very flattering fit for brides worried about that slighly untoned belly thanks to the drape and, often loose fitting this style has.

And it's great for a modern take on the straight look too, which of course means i's a fantastic choice for destination and summer weddings.

On her wedding day in Italy Alicia Keys went for a Grecian inspired number, complete with an on-trend headpeice by Vivienne Westwood.

We give you a few similar, pocket friendly alternatives.

It was the news that many Robbie Williams fans had been dreading, but this weekend the ex Take That singer broke hearts by finally marrying his long-term girlfriend Ayda Field in a ceremony at his Beverly Hills home.

Unfortunately details are sketchy as the pair insisted on complete privacy. So private in fact that even the couples closest friends were kept in the dark about the venue until a few hours before when they were picked up from their hotels and taken to the LA home.

The couple also went one step further and blocked off the outdoor ceremony under a tent, so the paps couldn't get in.

According to The Mirror the wedding were to a great extent organised by Williams's mother.
It also claimed that alcohol was banned throughout the celebration (similar to Lara Stone's day) as a result of Robbie's previous demons.

We'll keep you updated as more news comes in but until then take a look at the first few pictures of the couple (if your heart can take it that is).

Gallery: Chelsea Clinton's wedding day

Earlier this morning we bought you the news of Chelsea Clinton's million dollar wedding to Marc Mezvinsky, which took place in Rhinebeck, New York at a Beaux Arts riverside estate called Astor Courts. However, we were unable to get you any of those all important pictures until now.

Chelsea wore a Vera Wang princess strapless dress with beaded detail across the waist. She teamed this up with a bunch of handtied calla Lilies before changing into something a little bit slinkier for the evening.

Scroll down for all the pictures of the day and tell us what you think of the brides frock by leaving your comments in the box below.

Saturday saw one of the biggest US weddings of the year. The marriage of Chelsea Clinton to Marc Mezvinsky.

The wedding, which took place at Astor Courts in New York was followed by a reception held in a marque at the same venue with food supplied by the St. Regis Hotel in New York, which consisted of short ribs, Atlantic char, a vegetarian option, and gluten-free rolls. Chelsea also opted for a gluten-free cake from La Tulipe to suit her allergies.

The bride is said to have worn a Vera Wang frock, before changing into something slinkier by the designer for her first dance to the tune of "At Last".

According to sources, there were "dozens of bridesmaids" and guests needed special ID bracelets to board a bus to get to the venue, but at least they had a good time. The party was said to have continued until 4:30am.

However, Chelsea isn't the only one to have tied the knot on Saturday as Alicia Keys also opted to tie the knot too. The singer (and mother-to-be) also walked down the aisle in a Grecian inspired Vera Wang dress, complete with flat sparkling shoes and a jewelled band for her Mediterranean wedding to Swizz Beatz, which took place by a pool overlooking the beach.

Unfortunately we're not yet able to get pictures of either wedding, but as soon as we have some we'll keep you updated. In the meantime, click here for the leaked images of Alicia's wedding frock.

A million hearts broke this morning when news began filtering through that Orlando Bloom had secretly wed his model girlfriend Miranda Kerr in a secret ceremony.

The couple, who announced their engagement last month were forced to confirm their wedding rumour after news leaked out that Miranda pulled out of an appearance at Australian department store, David Jones, this week.

She said in a statement: "David Jones very graciously released me during this period so we could celebrate an intimate ceremony and honeymoon together."

However, they aren't the only couple who have shied away from the press and surprised us with sudden engagements and marriages.

One engagement, which caught us totally off-guard was the one between Twilight star Jamie Campbell Bower and Harry Potter starlet Bonnie Wright who announced their whirlwind engagement in the spring. And last month Megan Fox surprised everyone when she announced that she had finally tied the knot with her long term fiance Brian Austin Green in Hawaii. She didn't release any wedding details, but it surprised the media at the time as it was thought the couple had split.

Another couple who shunned Hollywood was Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem who fled to the Bahamas for a quiet intimate wedding. Penelope wore John Galliano but we're not sure if she invited her best friend Salma Hayek.

And even Katie Price and Alex Reid took some time out from the public eye (although at the time she was being filmed by ITV2) when they shloped off quietly to Vegas to tie the knot. However, their church blessing and UK party was anything but quiet. A media circus entailed and this time around Katie wore a white handmade dress with crystals, which was just as big as the pink frock she chose to wed Peter Andre.

Although it wasn't a surprise wedding, Piers Morgan opted for privacy when he wed his long term partner Celia Walden in Oxford. However, like Katie and Alex, the couple made it up to friends when they had a huge party to celebrate their vows a month later.

Get the look: Lara Stone's wedding dress

Yesterday we reported on Lara Stone's wedding dress over on our sister fashion site ShinyStyle and promised brides we'd have a get the look special over here.

The model who married David Walliams a fortnight ago wore a specially made dress by Givenchy creative designer Riccardo Tisci at a rumoured price of £30,000. The dress was simple, elegant and gave a slight nod to the medeival look with gold edged chain sleeves and gold detailing on the daring lace thigh high spilt.

She later changed into a little gold sequined number also by the designer for her alcohol free reception at Claridges where the bride and groom had their first dance to Disney's Beauty and Beast.

Take a look at our gallery to see similar styles to Lara's white frock.

Elsa Pataky Day 4 - 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger' - premiere-400.jpg

We've covered a lot of celebrity awards events over here on Bridalwave and it's not because we're getting confused with our fashion and celebrity sister site ShinyStyle either.

In fact it's because A-listers always decide to wear bridal inspired frocks to these events. First it was Kristen Stewart and the BAFTAs, then very recently Eva Longoria opted for this trend for the first day of the Cannes Film Festival 2010.

And now it seems another one has followed in her footsteps. For the You Will Meet a Dark Stranger premier at day 5 of the Cannes Film Festival Elsa Pataky donned a white ruffled fishtail dress, which would not look out of place on a blushing bride but do you think this dress was a step too far?

If your other half had cold feet when he proposed to you, then fear not because even celebrities get terrified of popping the question.

However, the example we're citing is slightly different because it's Robert Pattinson talking about his on-screen proposal to Bella in Twilight. Despite being in a real-life relationship with his co-star, R-Patz told USA Today that he was "I was dreading the day it was coming."

"The first time I read the script, I thought, "This is impossible,'' he said, claiming the proposal was too old fashioned.

"It's so earnest," he said in the interview.

"I finally convinced the producers that you can play it with a bit of awareness of not being a fictional character. I'm not trying to be part of a Gothic novel."

This year white has been a key colour at A-list events with many celebrities donning this colour to make a stand on the red carpet.

Kristen Stewart demonstrated this when she turned up at the BAFTAs sporting a short Chanel dress, while Amanda Seyfried opted for this look at the Oscars.

However as the parties go on this year more and more celebs have chosen this colour and others have taken further inspiration from the bridal book opting for netting and big dresses.

We give you the white and bridal inspired frocks from fashion's most coveted MET Ball.

Best celebrity weddings

With news of vaious celebrities announcing their engagement, most recently Lara Stone and today model Coco Rocha, we thought it only right to put together a gallery of the most memorable and iconic weddings.

And beleive us there's been alot. We've whittled it down to our favourites, but we'll also be popping one or two into our posts in the upcoming months.

Click on the picture below to begin the gallery.

Lara and David.jpg

Ever since Lara Stone announced she was engaged to funny man David Walliams, only one question has been in our heads, and of course that's what her dress will look like.

And today we're thrilled to hear that the model has announced (or let it slip during a cover shoot with Interview Magazine) that her her close friend Italian fashion designer Riccardo Tisci whoo designs for Givenchy will be designing her wedding dress.

Details of the style of the frock or any decoration have not been announced but we're sure it'll be a designer dress to die for. If you want to get the designer look but can't afford to get your dress made then we've put some cheeky tips together to help you get the frock without the cost.

Designer cheat one: Shop around
As you would with any dress the first thing to do is go and try on a few frocks which seem to be a similar style to the dress you have designed. You may love the princess look, but it could look completely wrong once you've actually tried it. We advise popping down to a few stores and trying on a range of styles just to make sure it's definitely the look for you.

Designer cheat two: Go off the rail.
No we haven't gone mad, we know you want a frock designed, but designers are flexible when it comes to ordering a dress, including those where you are buying off the rack, as they'll still need to make you one up. Therefore it's worth asking the store to see if they can order a dress plain without any of the detailing. This will not only be slightly cheaper as there won't be any work required for decoration, but it also means you can buy a fairly low cost dress as you won't be looking for the overall look. We estimate that the average cost here should be around £500.

Designer cheat three: Shop around some more
Shop around and look for a dress that is the most similar to what you've always wanted. Yes this may take time, but, these dresses can be found. Then ask if you can have it made up without the detail. Doing this will give you a blank canvass where you can add your own designs.

Designer cheat 4: Crystals are forever
If you want crystals on your dress then we recommend buying these in bulk from haberdashery stores, such as the Bead Shop in Covent Garden or from Ebay, where you will sellers offering these for around £10 for 200. These places are also an excellent place to pick up feathers, bows or piping that you may need for your designs.

Designer cheat five: Get stitching
Once you have all the bits in place you have two options. Depending on your budget you can choose to have an independent dress maker stitch on the decoration as you want it (although this may be pricey) or you can do it yourself.

If you opt for the latter, and you have a specific pattern in mind then we advise you to invest in some tailors chalk. This is used by seamstresses so they can get the exact patterns right on a dress and can be rubbed off easily with a damp cloth after you have sewn on what you need.

If you're worried about ruining your dress then draw out the pattern on tracing paper and carefully tack this onto your dress with small stitches and a very fine needle to ensure you won't make marks in the dress.

Once you have done this, then you can begin stitching. We advise you leave at least 4 months after the dress has arrived to do this to ensure you have the dress of your dreams.
