Get the look: Chelsea Clinton's wedding dress

Comments (0)

Chelsea Clinton may have jetted off to her African Honeymoon but her wedding and of course her gorgeous Vera Wang dress have left a lasting imprint on the bridal and fashion world.

The strapless frock with a beaded waistline, silk tulle diagonally draped bodice with a raw edged laser-cut swirling silk organza ball skirt and train, is set to be the "must-have" design for brides-to-be.

And we forecast that many highstreet designers will be bringing out a similar style shorty.

However, the classic style of the dress also means that there are some great frocks out there already. We've picked out some of our favourites.

Get the look: Coco Rocha's wedding dress

Ladies forget those strapless A-line dresses, because it seems that mermaid frock is back, well that's the style Coco Rocha wore when she got married recently.

We've been waiting a while to get a glimpse of the Zac Posen wedding dress the model wore to marry interior decorator James Conlan.

And there was a lot of excitement surrounding this frock so we were thrilled when Coco Twittered "I think I've left you all waiting long enough for this one..." followed by link to a full length photo of her frock.

We definitely think it was worth the wait. We think she looks gorgeous.

If you're brave enough to go for a mermaid frock then check out the gallery below for some similar styles.

Get the look: Lara Stone's wedding dress

Yesterday we reported on Lara Stone's wedding dress over on our sister fashion site ShinyStyle and promised brides we'd have a get the look special over here.

The model who married David Walliams a fortnight ago wore a specially made dress by Givenchy creative designer Riccardo Tisci at a rumoured price of £30,000. The dress was simple, elegant and gave a slight nod to the medeival look with gold edged chain sleeves and gold detailing on the daring lace thigh high spilt.

She later changed into a little gold sequined number also by the designer for her alcohol free reception at Claridges where the bride and groom had their first dance to Disney's Beauty and Beast.

Take a look at our gallery to see similar styles to Lara's white frock.

Short wedding (or little white) dresses are becoming more and more popular as brides opt for either a 50s style wedding, or for something that will really make them stand out.

Many of these are also alot cheaper thn full length frocks, especially if you visit a hightstreet shop such as Berketex Brides or Losners or buy them off the rack at smart dress shops such as Coast.

Many brides are also opting for these as they have an element of recycling value. Not only can they be worn again to a summer event (if celebs can wear white there's no reason why you can't) and they can also be dyed to make maximum use of the frock.

We think they make perfect dresses for a summer garden wedding, beach wedding or even for second time around brides who want to look different on their second wedding day so it's great some celebrities are channeling the trend, even if its not strictly for down the ailse.

Saoirse Ronan went for a 50s Burberry dress with ruffles while Kristen Stewart went for straight sparkly Channel. We found the best possible match for each of them.

Saoirse's look-a-like frock is from Candy Anthony, while Kristen's is from Amsale.

Let us know below if you would wear a short wedding dress on your big day.

How to have a 1920s style wedding

FLAPPER.jpg

With so many of us getting married nowadays, it's hard to find that special theme that makes your day stand out from the rest, especially if you are one of the last of your friends to get married.

If you want to do something completely different for the day that will wow your guests then why not think a little bit outside of the box and go back a few eras.

Old style weddings are a great way to dress up in a completely different way on your big day and give a nod to vintage styles. For the next few weeks we'll be giving you ideas on how to have a wedding with an older theme, including the dresses and make-up starting with the 1920s.

The dress.
The 1920s are originally about flapper style frocks with tassells or ostrich and marabou feathers, so your wedding dress should reflect this. A flapper style dress is usually knee length. Alternatively if you don't want this style go for another 20s style, a dress with a dropped waistline.

Accessories
1920s accessories were big and bold so opt for long beads. To keep in with the 20s tradition go for pearls and match this with a headpiece, which was traditionally worn around the forehead. The 1920s style is also great for tall brides or for those who don't want heels as the look here is low pumps.

The flowers
Carry a big bouquet of orchids and lily's with love knot ribbons or a large, ostrich fan. Continue the floral theme into the rest of your outfit by holding a veil in place with an orange blossom wreath.

The Bridesmaids
Get your bridesmaids kitted out in 1920s flapper style dresses, which can be bought from fancy dress or traditional vintage shops. You can continue the theme onto their bouquets by adding large feathers.

Your groom
Get your groom all dressed up in a 1920s gangsta style, think Al Capone. This will include a
pinstriped zoot suit, ascot tie, and a felt, roll-brimmed fedora hat.

The dancing
Even if you plan to have a modern DJ in the evening, don't miss out on incorporating a few traditional 1920s dances into your big day or as your first dance. Get the jazz music out and learn the Charleston with your other half and a few close family members and friends to put on 1920s show.

Gallery: How to have a Disney themed wedding

Every bride wants her wedding day to be special and different. While some brides will try to do this through flowers, the food and entertainment other brides may go that step further deciding that a theme is the best way to really make their day one to remember. This can be anything from Hollywood to 50s glamour but one theme we currently love here at Bridalwave is the Disney theme.

Yes we know it won't suit every bride, but for those who want a day based on childhood wedding dreams or are thinking of having a destination wedding we think it's a perfect theme to go for.

We've therefore put together a gallery of Disney themed dresses, accessories and bridesmaids dresses, which are also perfect for brides who don't want to go the full Disney but want to make their day that extra bit magical.

Get the look: Rachel Stevens wedding dress

Rachel wore a white tulle and silk dress, studded with delicate crystal beading, by Mira Zwillinger.

It was designed specially for the starlet after she found a similar dress by the designer at Browns Bride.

To finish off the look Rachel wore a pair of platform, peep toe Christian Louboutins and carried a posy of white roses that also had tiny crystals.

Kooky dresser Natasha wore a cream Vera Wang strapless A-line dress, and matching veil when she got married earlier this year.

She added a hint of colour with a sash and, like Fergie wore a range of diamonds from H.Stern. We wonder if these were the same one's the Black Eyed Peas popstar forgot at the venue.

Get a similar wedding dress to Natasha's with these cheaper alternatives. It's also important to note, that many companies will change the colour of the sash to fit in with your colour scheme, so make sure you ask about this when you're trying these frocks on.

Fergie wore a fitted, white ruched, corseted wedding gown with a mesh tulle overlay, spaghetti straps and a long train designed by Dolce & Gabbana.

The singer aslo opted for a veil by the same designer.

However a celebrity wedding wouldn't be complete without bling, and Fergie did us proud, turning up draped in millions of dollars worth of one-of-a-kind diamonds by H.Stern.

We find you some similar, less extortionate wedding dresses.

Alex Curran reportedly wore a £60,000 diamond-studded off-white dress with a long train, designed by Paris-based Lebanese couturier Elie Saab.

Her bridesmaids, daughters, Lily-Ella and Lexie wore miniature versions.

We're not sure about you, but we think this frock looks like an A-line version of fellow WAG Claudine Palmer's dress. Who said money could buy you individuality?

Click on the photo below for some affordable alternatives to Alex's dress.

Unlike many wags, Emma chose to be plain and sophisticated on her big day.

She swapped beaded bling fora full-length ivory gown from Amanda Wakeley and added some sparkle with a glittering tiara.

We think she looks gorgeous in this straight dress with a small mermaid kick at the bottom.

Toni Poole was said to want something different for her wedding day. She therefore went for a sequined beaded gown by couture designer Steven Hakes and teamed it up with Jimmy Choos.

The dress was said to have 12,000 beads but we are more interested in the ruffled skirt, which we think is gorgeous.

Cheryl Cole's wedding dress was designed by Roberto Cavalli and reportedly cost a staggering £110,000. We think she looked absolutely gorgeous in this fishtail strapless frock encrusted with crystals, and love the unique touch of gold running through her train.

If you want a similar dress to Cheryl's but don't want to shell out the extortionate fees, check out our gallery of fishtail dresses.

I'm on little bit of a Four Weddings roll after catching up on the show this week.

Although all the brides looked lovely and had different wedding days I have to say this red dress, worn by one of them really stands out.

I know some of the bride's opponents didn't like it claiming it was "too big" and, well, red but I actually fell in love with it. It's therefore provided today's inspiration for our gallery. Yes that's right its red dresses.
