According to reports Katie had problems finding a wedding dress for her Las Vegas wedding to Alex Reid as the wedding dress shops weren't open at the time the couple wanted to get married.

A source said: 'She had her fashion team trawling all over town for a gown. In the end she just had to make do.'

We're not sure if this was a blessing in disguise judging by the bright pink Barbie frock she wore to her first wedding to Peter Andre, and although we haven't seen what she wore, we've put together some styles that she may have worn down the aisle if she'd had time to pick one up.

A beach wedding dress is often different to the traditional frock you would expect to wear in the UK. For starters you need to choose a fabric that's breathable (this is usually a natural fabric such as cotton), light and as crease resistant as possible for the flight.

We've therefore put together a gallery of dresses to help you find the perfect beach frock.

Gallery: How to have a Disney themed wedding

Comments (0)

Every bride wants her wedding day to be special and different. While some brides will try to do this through flowers, the food and entertainment other brides may go that step further deciding that a theme is the best way to really make their day one to remember. This can be anything from Hollywood to 50s glamour but one theme we currently love here at Bridalwave is the Disney theme.

Yes we know it won't suit every bride, but for those who want a day based on childhood wedding dreams or are thinking of having a destination wedding we think it's a perfect theme to go for.

We've therefore put together a gallery of Disney themed dresses, accessories and bridesmaids dresses, which are also perfect for brides who don't want to go the full Disney but want to make their day that extra bit magical.

How to pick your wedding dress

Comments (1)

Wedding dress.jpgWe're sure you'll agree that your wedding dress is, after the groom, the most important part of the day, and we know each and everyone will want to look like a princess.

However, with so many dresses on the market and an abundance of frock shopping finding that perfect one can turn into a nightmare. We've put together a few tips to help you shop for that special dress without the stress.

Wedding dress shopping stress busting tip one: Think about the season.
Many brides will have a style of dress in mind long before they've picked the venue or date. However both these are important factors in picking a dress. You may love that strapless frock, but walking down the aisle in blue from the cold in December will quickly. Likewise a frock with sleeves in the middle of summer may paint a sweaty picture that you just don't want. However if that strapless frock is still calling you then make sure you invest in a shawl or bolero that matches the style of the dress perfectly.

Wedding dress shopping stress busting tip two: Think about your venue
As we've said before, the venue should also be a consideration when you're picking your frock. A slinky strapless number may look lovely in a contemporary venue but out of place in something that more traditional such as a castle or old country house, making the photographs look that little mismatched. And a princess style frock complete with Jordan style accessories may have you sinking rather than floating across the waters edge if you're thinking about getting married on a beach.

Wedding dress shopping stress busting tip three: Flatter your figure
Look at a wedding dress in the same way you would you're normal day wear such as skirts and dresses. If you're more a jeans and trainer girl, who opts for flats and a sparkly top rather than a sparkly dress on a night out you'll probably feel more comfortable in something straight. However, its also important to consider your figure. Many brides make the mistake of thinking they can go all out and for something different on their day but this will only make you feel uncomfortable and could end up with disastrous results. Think teeny tiny Jordan in that huge frock. Stick to something that will flatter your figure instead.
Use the shapes and styles you prefer as a starting point and discuss these with the shop assistant.

Wedding dress shopping stress busting tip four : Think about your groom.

We're not talking about thinking about you love him here, more his size and build. Some brides will pick a dress, which completely overpowers their groom on the big day. For example if your other half is not too tall then a huge princess dress could completely push him out of the limelight, the wedding pictures and make the first dance difficult. However brides with a groom on the other end of the height spectrum will benefit from a style like this especially if they are a good few inches smaller than their other half.

Wedding dress shopping stress busting tip five: What's your colour?

Traditional wedding dresses come in all shades of white, cream and gold, so don't think you have to opt for pure white particularly if you are very pale. Ask the shop assistant to help you choose a fabric colour that helps you glow not look like a ghost.

Amsale.JPGAmsale has launched its SS2010 weeding dress collection, and as always, has some stunning frocks to choose from.

However, the designer, which in the past has bought us a range of gorgeous LWD, has gone back to its traditional roots with its new collection.

Styles include fishtail, ballgown and strapless in a range of fabrics such as organza, lace and satin. Like Vera Wang's collection there is also an abundance of sashes, diamantes and different colours, although Amsale has decided to play it safe and go for traditional champaign rather than lime greens and blacks.

We'll be getting our hands on pictures of the full range soon, so look out for a gallery.

vera green.jpgWhile we're on the Vera Wang bridal bandwagon we thought it only right that today's frock should be from her fabulous 2010 collection.

And we're sure you'll agree this frock really is quite something.

We know it won't suit everyone's taste, it's lime green for starters, but no-one can deny that this organza and silk number has something winter and romantic about it.

We also love the ribbon around the waist, which is going to be a huge must have for bridalwear next year.

We've been giving you a few hints recently about what we'll be expecting to see in the bridal fashion world in 2010 and so far we've come up with black and off the shoulder.

However, we've just been given a small glimpse of Vera Wang's new designs and of course, had to share them with you.

We think many other bridal designers will be following suit with similar creations, including black, sashes and strapless numbers so watch this space.

Reem Acra dress.jpg According to bride.com, one of the hottest trends from the bridal catwalks for 2010 is an off-the-shoulder neckline. Seen here in a dress by Reem Acra, the trend can be an alternative to the ubiquitous strapless style, and with the addition of some added tulle can also be extremely flattering. Off-the-shoulder gowns tend to look quite traditional, so it's best for all those conventional brides out there who want a classic wedding to remember, without trying to tear up the rule book.

A shorter-length full style with your shoulders on show isn't entirely recommended, though - it could end up looking a bit too '80s prom'.

With the recession looming over us like a dark cloud, wedding budgets are closing up faster than you can say I Do.

Yes we all want that big expensive designer dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and diamond encrusted tiara but there are many other options out there that are just as good.

In the past few years highstreet stores (don't turn your noses up) have really come into their own when it comes to bridalwear and accessories.

We have a look at some of the options available to you, and we're sure you'll be more than surprised.

Daily Frock Watters bride.jpgWe always get very excited around this time of year. The fashion shows are over and bridal designers start to put their concepts into mainstream designs and launch their styles for Autumn.

One example of the exciting dresses we've got to look forward to is this gorgeous taffeta number by Watters.

We love the way the strapless gown and pin tuck skirt are bought straight into 2009 with the beaded band across the waist, which is perfect for any bride worried about their figure as it tucks the waist right in. We can't wait to see more of the designs for the year ahead.

Alvina Valenta dress of the day.jpgThere's something special about a Winter wedding, especially when it's snowing or raining outside and you're tucked up in your venue with your guests and the man of your dreams.

If you've chosen your winter wedding date and thought about your venue and decoration (we think silver and icy whites are a perfect colour choice here) then you'll probably also be thinking about your wedding dress. So where better to begin than with this year's autumn 2009/ spring 2010 wedding dress trends.

According to the experts over at fashion blog WWD, there's a range of different looks to pick from this season.

If you want something tight and figure hugging then you'll be pleased to know that this is very popular this season with a range of designers including Vera Wang, Monique L'huillier, Claire Pettibone and Nicole Miller showing off body-skimming silhouettes.

Reem Acra, known for her off the wall bridal fashions, opted for ruching, rosettes and layered tulle.

And there's also good news for brides who want a bit more warmth on their wedding day as it seems sleeves may also soon be making a comeback.

After she was asked if sleeves would be coming back, Vera Wang told the New York Times: "Nothing would make me happier. I've been doing strapless dresses for 15 years. It's tiring."

Here at Bridalwave we do as much as we can to help you find the right dresses and accessories to help make sure your day is as special as it should be.

However, sometimes we do need to call in specialist help; after all, we're hardly dress designers over here.

Today's brides aren't only looking for a dress that complements their wedding theme, but one that is affordable and that they can be comfortable in. Dan Rentillo, David's Bridal Design Director and Style Council member, knows a thing or two about stylish and versatile wedding and bridesmaid dresses and how to bring them together cohesively for a flawless and picture-perfect wedding.

Dan has therefore put together a range of video tips to help brides combine the latest fashion trends and timeless designs. From picking the right type of fabric to finding the dress that suits your figure. Watch the video below and let us know if it helps you.

Over at our fashion website, ShinyStyle we've been looking at the up and coming fashion trends for Spring Summer 2010, which are being displayed at London Fashion Week.

And it's all about big 80s fashions, including those big shoulders and ruffles. Now we know bridal fashion is different but we're sure some of these trends will filter through to wedding dresses so we've put together a fashion gallery of dresses with these attributes for those brides that want their dress to resemble the up and coming fashions.
